If you are a born-again believer you are the light of the
world, it says this in Matthew 5:14-16, “You
are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor
do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it
gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
This brings to my mind a lighthouse, used by ships’ captains
as a warning so they could avoid tragedy by running their ships aground or
against the rocks or unseen obstacles in the water. These lights were shining bright so they could
be seen for a long distance and could make the difference between life and
death.
In a sense, believers are lights that others can see and
when they see their lives and hear the good news that they proclaim, it may
mean the difference between life and death also, depending on how the people
that are watching and listening respond to what they see and hear. A light should not be hidden, for just like
the lighthouse had a purpose, so does every true believer. We need to let our light shine brightly in
this lost, dark and dying world so that the Lord will receive glory because of
the way we live and the things that we do. We may be in the fight of our lives,
and the evil one may throw everything that he has against us, but darkness can
never overcome the light.
When Jesus came into the world, in Him was life, He is life.
He brought light to men because he was light
and the darkness (Satan) tried to destroy the light on many occasions, but it
couldn’t because Jesus overcame the darkness (Satan) every time, and because of
Jesus we can overcome. We may face trials
and tribulations, but in Christ we will overcome them also. Jesus said this in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in
Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good
cheer, I have overcome the world.”
It also says this in 1 John 5:4-5, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the
victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the
world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”
How do we overcome the world and the evil one? The same way those who went before us did; by
the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony!! It says this in Revelations 12:7-11, “And war broke out in heaven: Michael and
his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but
they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So
the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan,
who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were
cast out with him.
Then I heard a loud
voice saying in heaven, ‘Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our
God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren,
who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they
overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and
they did not love their lives to the death.’”
Praise the Lord, we have the power in Him to stand our
ground, covered with the whole armor of God; so keep your eyes on the Lord and
let your light so shine before men so that they may see your good works and
glorify your Father, which is in heaven. I hope this Tidbit has been an encouragement
to all who read it, it is something to think about I hope you will. May the
good Lord bless you and yours and may you have a super day and don’t forget to
thank and praise the Lord!!
