Does It Sound Too Good

You’ve heard it said that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.  Seniors get calls for deals quite often and many fall for these scams because they sound so good.  People, particularly seniors, are warned about deals that sound just too good to be true, but because many are looking for the get rich, quick deal that they fall prey to the schemers, crooks and scam artists that are happy to take their money.  We live in a society where trust and honesty take a back seat, where lying, cheating and conniving seems to be front and center.  Many times the people that you should be able to trust are your worst enemies, conniving and scheming against you behind closed doors.

The worldly system is influenced by the evil one and he seems to have many, many people under his spell, so blinded to what is real and to what is truth.  We know what the unbeliever is like because this is what the Word of God says about them and about His wrath over sin in Romans 1:18-32, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”

At one time we were all guilty of these things, being born with a sin nature because of the results of Adam and Eve’s sin.  And who was behind it all? The evil one, which the Word says is the prince, or god, of this world.  He deceived Eve and she sinned, and then Adam chose to sin when offered the fruit from Eve, which resulted in the whole human race being contaminated by sin.  With the evil one behind the tragedy that took place, and the whole earth and its inhabitants infected by sin, the evil one blinds the eyes of the unbelievers to keep them from knowing the truth and escaping his grip on their lives.  But there is Good News!

To many, this Good News seems to be too good to be true also, but it is the truth.  God loved the sinner so much that when we were lost in our sins without hope, God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to set the captives free of their sins and to be their Savior, not counting their trespasses and sins against them, praise the Lord!!  Jesus was willing to be the cursed one, hanging on a cross that should have been ours, taking our shame and guilt and sins upon Himself and be our sin bearer.  A man who knew no sin became sin for us.

Read this from 2 Corinthians 5:18-21, “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

God’s Word says this in John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

If you are reading this and you want to escape the grip of the evil one and the sin that has you enslaved, call out to the Lord and ask Him to help your unbelief and to come into your heart and life and be your Savior and Lord.  Also it would be a good thing to confess that you are a sinner in need of His saving grace, don’t be in a hurry, tarry awhile and let Him do the healing work that you need in your heart and life.  Don’t get up until you know that you prayed through and the Lord’s peace has filled your heart.  Something to think about, God bless and have a great day!!
