He’s My Son

I heard a song this morning by Mark Schultz called, “He’s my Son,” and it got me thinking about some things I hadn’t thought about for a while so I thought I would do a Tidbit about my feelings on this subject today.  If I remember right, this song was written about a family that had a child who had Leukemia and the parents were praying for a miracle healing which is always heartbreaking.  There seems to be something about a child dying at a young age that seems to grip at the heart and soul of a person and the aftermath is totally devastating.

While typing this I am also thinking about the multitudes of babies that have been aborted, many being killed even after they were born.  Legalizing any kind of abortion is a terrible injustice and is nothing short of murder and partial birth abortion is barbaric and totally wrong for any reason.  People that agree and perform abortions are totally blinded to the truth.  People may teach or preach that there are many gods but there is only one God and everyone who agrees with these practices or performs an abortion will be accountable to the Creator of the world, the Creator of all mankind.  The abortion industry is making, and has made, millions of dollars on killing babies but all the money in the world will not buy a single pardon when you stand before the Lord at the white throne judgment someday to give an account of yourself and your actions.

There is a story that Jesus told in Luke 16:19-31 about a rich man and a beggar, “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

“Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’

“Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”

The reason I am using this story is this, many women that have had abortions have been taken advantage of and blatantly lied to, thinking they had nowhere else to turn.  Many of them are very poor also and are encouraged to abort their fetuses, which are really babies with life in them.  So many have been deceived into thinking what they are doing is ok.  I am glad that many places that stand against abortion now have Ultra Sound Machines so that the mothers can see what is taking place in their womb and reject abortion because they see and hear and know the truth.

I am not standing in judgment of anyone, just bringing forth the truth.  In God’s Word it says this, “Thou shalt not kill,” and that is talking about premeditated murder and that is what abortion is and it is also sin.

God’s Word says this also in Matthew 19:23-26, “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

I want to say this, there is forgiveness for everyone who has had an abortion or performed any because of God’s unconditional love and His amazing grace.  He will not only forgive you, but He will fill you with His peace, love and joy and take the guilt away that has tormented you.  Don’t carry this burden any longer, give it to the Lord.  Repent and confess your sins to God and ask Him to forgive you and to be your Lord and Savior.

It says this in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

So take your time and pray through, let the Lord deliver you and give you His perfect peace, love and joy that surpasses all understanding then begin to thank Him and praise Him.  There have been many that have been set free of this sin and guilt by the Lord and they can smile and rejoice again.

Getting back to the song, “He’s my son,” I think of God the Father sending Jesus His son to die for our sins on a cross, which was meant for criminals, to take our place, even though we were the criminals deserving it, and Him giving His life a ransom for all who would receive Him as their Lord and Savior.  This is the love of the Savior ~ He stretched out His arms and died on our behalf ~ a man who knew no sin became sin for us, what a Savior! Praise His holy name!  Something to think about today!  May God bless you and yours and have a super day!!
