Proverbs 14:12 says this, “There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way
of death.”
How many times have we thought we were right but found out
that we were wrong? This happens in many situations and circumstances.
Many choices we make may seem to be the
right ones at the time but far too many times we are mistaken.
How many times have you judged someone only to find out you
were wrong?
How many times have you heard someone say something and you
took it the wrong way, finding out that what the person said wasn’t at all what
you thought was said? These things
happen all the time.
Many things we make mistakes about probably won’t make a
great deal of difference in the scheme of things, but there are things that
will make an enormous difference now and also in eternity. We still live in a country where we can freely
speak what is on our minds so you can say most anything you want to say.
Our way of thinking can really mess us up at times, especially
when we listen to the wrong voices. There
are many voices speaking many things, some good and some bad, some true and
some false. It is our job to choose who
we will listen to and the choices we will make. We have a real problem with this because we
were all born with a sin nature so our mind doesn’t always think rationally since
we have a thing within us that we call the flesh, and it always wants its own
way, kind of like a baby. The flesh tends
to be very spoiled and very selfish, and when it doesn’t get its own way it
starts kicking and screaming, trying to dominate our choices and decisions, and
if it doesn’t get its own way it makes us feel miserable. In our sinful state we can’t seem to control it,
so we give in to it just like many do with a young child. The whole human race is subject to this and is
in a great dilemma.
There is good news though, because there is a way out of
this, but sorry to say many people will not choose it. With so many voices swirling around in their
heads and their flesh fighting against them, wanting to do its own thing and
not be subject to anyone, they make all the wrong choices, believing the lies
they hear and being deceived by them. The
answer to this dilemma, and the only answer, is the one true God, the God of Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob, who has made a way of escape so that we can overcome the flesh
and our sin nature and live by faith. God
has sent Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, to be our sacrifice, taking on Himself
our sin and shame, being crucified on the cross, died and was buried and on the
third day raised again from the tomb.
This is truth and Jesus is the only way to God and the only
way to get to heaven. When He died on
the cross, He said, “it is finished,” because He had accomplished everything He
came here to do. He defeated the evil
one and the grave and the power of sin in a person’s life, praise the Lord! At the time of His death, the veil in the
Temple was rent from top to bottom and Jesus became the veil, and just like the
priest in the Old Testament could only go into the Holy of Holies through the
veil in the Temple to get into God’s presence, now to get into the presence of
God you will have to go through Jesus.
Read what it says in Hebrews 10:19-23, “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood
of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the
veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let
us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us
hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is
faithful.”
So be very careful of how you think and who you are listening
to, be sure to seek truth. If you have
never known the Lord or even believed that He existed or you are backslidden, humble
yourself and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. The Word says in James 4:6, “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’” I believe if you are serious, He will. Then do as it says in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and
lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He
shall direct your paths.” Something
to think about! Have a super day and may
the good Lord bless you and yours!!
