Comforter

Many things may be your comforter, such as your parents, your mentor or someone else in your family.  If you are a child it may be your blanket, some people would say their pastor or teacher.  To some it would be their spouse, to others it may be their animals.  You may say it is many different things, but there is one that I haven’t mentioned yet, this is what Jesus said about this in John 14:25-26, “These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

The Holy Spirit is our helper, our comforter, our teacher and our guide.  He also convicts us of our sins and empowers us.

Please read John 14:15-19, “If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.”

Now please read John 16:5-15, “But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expe0dient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they believe not on me; of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”

Now please read Romans 8:26-27, “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
Galatians 5:16-26, “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”

I wanted to put some verses in here so that you might know the precious Holy Spirit better, in case you didn’t know these things about Him.  He is truly a comforter and so much more.  The Holy Spirit helps us in our prayer life when we don’t know what or how to pray or how to express ourselves and so much more.  When we are born-again, our bodies become the temple of the Holy Spirit and we can walk in the Spirit and not gratify the desires of the flesh.

I pray that this was a help and a blessing to you and yours and may the good Lord bless you and yours and may you have a super day.  If you haven’t yet, be sure to thank and praise the Lord for He is truly worthy!!

Are You Tired

I am wondering if you are tired of the way that you are living?  Would you like to be set free of guilt and shame and much, much more?  Possibly you are an alcoholic or a drug addict or into a multitude of other things that may be weighing you down and you don’t know how to be set free.  You would love to be set free of whatever has a grip on you, but you feel that there is no hope.  I am here to tell you that there is hope, if you really want to be set free and are serious about it.

I was an alcoholic and a pill popping fool and a marijuana user.  I had a very bad temper and was a party animal with all that goes on in that scene.  I was what I considered a total freak, riding chopper motorcycles, smashing things when I was angry and hard to get along with, with a hatred in my heart and a no care attitude.  Mostly a loner with some questionable friends and acquaintances.  I was in two marriages that should have never happened and never would have if I didn’t choose the lifestyle that I did.  They both ended up with my wives leaving because they couldn’t put up with the freak I had become.

Then about forty-two years ago I married another girl I had met in a bar also, still pretty much the freak, throwing things and smashing things and having temper tantrums like usual still partying and being obnoxious at times.  Then something seemed to be happening to me and I started thinking of spiritual things. I had a couple experiences with the Lord prior to this that never went far because I fell back into my old lifestyle, not being serious enough, not truly repenting which I am totally ashamed of to this day.

I am totally convinced if I had been totally sincere years before this experience things would have turned out so much different.  I would have saved myself and others so much grief and pain and misery, which I am so sorry for.  Here I was years later thinking about spiritual things, that I think now was the Holy Spirit convicting me of my sins.  I was being drawn to the Savior by God the Father, and not long after, I committed my life to the Lord.  I praise the Lord He hadn’t given up on me, and it wasn’t long when I was delivered from my old lifestyle, drinking, smoking, drugs plus other things, for over forty years now, praise the Lord!!

I have the best wife in the world for me, who gave her life to the Lord not long after my experience and with my wife and I and the Lord in our marriage we have a super marriage.  If the Lord hadn’t intervened, I have a strong feeling that I would have died long ago and I can’t thank Him enough for his grace, love, mercy and forgiveness which I truly didn’t deserve, in fact none of us deserve, because we are all sinners in need of his grace, love, mercy and forgiveness.  But here is good news, He didn’t come to call the righteous but the sinners to repentance.

How do I know that God loves all of us, glad you asked, please read John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

Jesus, God’s only begotten Son, went to the cross on Calvary’s hill and purposely gave up his life and shed his blood for all, and if we will truly repent, turn from our wicked ways and turn to Him and ask Him to forgive us and be our Lord and Savior, He will and we will become God’s child, praise his holy name.  If you want to be set free and you are serious, it can happen.  Believe me, I am nothing special, if it can happen to me it can happen to you!!  Just taste and see that the Lord is good, seek Him while He may be found, don’t put it off.  I prayed that this would be a blessing and help and encouragement.  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may all of you have a super day!!

Judge Not

I think this is a good subject to talk and think about because it happens so often.  It seems like we have all been guilty of this at some time or other.  It is so easy to hear or see something that someone has done or said and jump on the judgement band wagon.  I know I have been wrongly judged at times and I have also been guilty of judging others the same way.

One of the big problems with judging people is that we have no business sitting in judgment of anyone else because we don’t know the thoughts and intents of the person’s heart.  God will judge the thoughts and intents of the heart of each one of us because He knows all things.  God is the only person who can rightly sit in the judgement seat and someday He will do just that.  Think of this, God’s word says that judgement starts with the household of God.  If it starts with us, what kind of people should we be?

Please read 1 Peter 4:16-18, “Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter. For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? Now ‘If the righteous one is scarcely saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?’”

We should be the kind of people that love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind and love our neighbor as ourselves.

Now please read what it says in Matthew 7:1-5, “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

This is so easy to forget, but this is so important to put into practice.  We would be so much better off if we just leave the judging to God!!

I hope this has been a blessing and an encouraging message.  I hope you all have a blessed and super day!!
