Serve Sin No More

At one time we were slaves to sin but when we became children of God through grace and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ we were set free from sin through His precious blood.  Being washed and cleansed by the blood of Jesus we are not slaves to sin and sin has no hold on us, the power of sin has been broken, praise the Lord.

Typing on this subject brought this song to my mind, with the Lord’s help, a song I haven’t thought about in a long while, maybe because preachers don’t preach about the blood of Jesus too often any more.  This is how it goes, “Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, redeemed, redeemed, His child forever I am.”

There is power in the blood of Jesus which brings another song to my mind that I haven’t heard in a long time and it goes like this, “There is power, power, wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb; there is power, power, wonder working power in the precious blood of the Lamb.”  You may remember these songs.  To me songs like these are very encouraging because of the truths that are in them.

If you are struggling with sin, get your Bible out, look up verses that talk about the blood of Jesus and read and meditate on them.  Also, sing biblical songs about the blood of Jesus and pray for God’s insight and wisdom that you will better understand the full meaning of how powerful the blood of Jesus was and is.  Because of the blood of Jesus the Bible says this in Isaiah 1:18, “‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the Lord, ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.’”

This was before Jesus came as a babe for the purpose of shedding His blood to fulfill that scripture.  Praise the Lord for His amazing grace, His shed blood that has the power to cleanse sins and His willingness to shed it on our behalf and on all who would put their trust in Him.

Think about this, when your clothes are permanently stained and there is no way to remove the stain, they are damaged and only good for rags or thrown away as garbage.  People are stained with a permanent stain also, called sin, which they have no power to remove, so they become slaves to sin because man can come up with nothing that will remove that ugly dominate force in their lives.  But God provided a permanent stain remover, His son Jesus and the blood that flowed through His veins.  Have you ever thought of this, the blood that flowed from His body caused his death on the cross but that same blood never stops flowing and it has brought life to multitudes of people and will never cease to flow while there is a lost soul left on earth, until the end of all things as we know it.

I want to encourage you with a few more verses they are in Romans 6:5-14, “For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.  For he who has died has been freed from sin.   Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more.  Death no longer has dominion over Him.  For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.  Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.  And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.  For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”

So knowing these things let each of us live God fearing lives, not yielding our members to sin.  We have been set free from sin, let us walk in that freedom.  Remember sin has no dominion over us the blood washed bride of Christ. If you are reading this and are being convicted of your sins, not having been washed and cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus, repent and ask the Lord to forgive you and cleanse and wash away your sins and be your Lord and Savior.  And if you are sincere, I believe He will do just that and you will be set free from the grip of sin also, praise the Lord.  Then find a church that preaches the Word, get a Bible and start reading praying for insight and start thanking and praising the Lord.  May the Lord bless you and have a great day!!
