Godly Sorrow

I have a few questions to ask you today.  Think about how you pray and the word’s you say:
Have you ever prayed for a family member, friend or stranger for
salvation?
Have you ever prayed that they would be broken and humbled
before the Lord?
Have you ever prayed that the fear of the Lord will be their portion?
Have you ever prayed that they will not be able to rest or be content
in anything until they get their hearts right with the Lord?
Have you ever prayed that God will draw them to Jesus, that He will
open their eyes and their ears and remove the veil that the evil
one has applied to their minds to hold them in unbelief?
Have you ever prayed that God will snatch them from the grip of the
evil one and the fire of Hell?
Have you prayed for godly sorrow?

The Word says that, “God draws to the humble and resists the proud.” What does it mean to humble yourself before the Lord?  It means that your dependency is in the Lord, and not yourself, realizing that your worth comes from the Lord.  Despite our sinful life He reaches out to us with His unconditional love even when we don’t deserve it.

It is important that we pray for godly sorrow because it says in 2 Corinthians 7:10, “For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.”  Worldly sorrow is being sorry you got caught sinning not that you are sorry for the sin you committed, like Judas when he sold Jesus out for 30 pieces of silver then making the choice to go out and hang himself.  Godly sorrow is being sorry you sinned like Peter was when he denied the Lord, repenting and weeping over his sin then finding forgiveness, praise the Lord.

You can pray all the above things when you pray for someone’s salvation.  You can also add the things I am about to put down here:
For God’s patience and loving kindness to be extended to the lost
person or that God would remember mercy in His wrath toward
the person, or people, you are praying for.
The people you are praying for won’t despise the riches of God’s
goodness, forbearance and longsuffering; knowing that these
things bring forth repentance.
You can also pray that those you are praying for will be brought to
their knees, broken and humbled before the Lord.
Also that these people will be afflicted and mourn and weep over
their sins that they will turn their laughter into morning and
their joy into tears.

These are just suggestions that I think may help you in your prayer time.  I hope these suggestions will be of help and this ‘tidbit’ will be a blessing to whoever reads this.  I hope God will bless you and yours and that you will have a great day!!
