Deception

Deception may come in different forms so we must stay close to the Lord and ask Him to keep us from being deceived in any way.  If you think about those in the Word who were deceived you know that it is possible to fall into the trap of deception.  There are many people in cults that are being deceived every day by false teachings.

Think of King David, he was deceived by his son Absalom and Samson, he was deceived by Delilah and before that Eve, was deceived by the Serpent and also before that a third of the angels were deceived by Lucifer.  Deception is nothing new it has been going on for many, many years, right up to the day we live in.  I have wrote on this subject before but I keep coming back to it at times because I know it happens so often and it seems like so many people don’t realize it.

The easiest way to be deceived is to be ignorant of the truth.  And even then you have to put into practice the truths you have learned and apply them to your lives.  Think of Solomon, King David’s son, with all the wisdom he had he still seemed to be deceived worshiping the gods of the women he married, being rebellious and not obeying the laws of God.

I really like what Jesus said in John 8:32, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”  What did Jesus mean by this?  Just before Jesus spoke these things He said this in verse 31, “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.’”  Jesus was and is the truth and He frees us from self-deception and also Satan’s deceptions.  The Lord Jesus frees us to be all that God the Father wants us to be.  Jesus frees us from sin’s hold on our lives; He empowers us so that we can resist Satan’s deceptive ways so we can refuse to be deceived by his lies and temptations.  Believers have no excuse for not knowing the truth and therefore being deceived.

The Lord has given us the Word of truth and the Spirit of the Lord to teach us and to bring the truths that we have learned back to our minds when we need them, plus He has given us preachers and teachers to teach us what the truth is.  There are many that claim to be Christians that don’t even take time to read the truths in the Word making up all kinds of excuses for not reading and studying it.  I am totally sure that every true born-again believer can read and understand the Word if they make it a priority in their lives.  I know that it will take time, energy and sacrifice but in the end it will be well worth it.

Remember the Word says, “When the Son sets you free you will be free indeed!!”  If you are a believer and still struggling with sin and deception I want you to know that Jesus’ purpose was to set you free of these things in your life, so trust Him to do what He already did at Calvary when He gave His life a ransom for our sins.  He broke the grip of sin in your life. When you were born-again you were set free, you are no longer what you used to be, you are a new creation in Christ, praise the Lord, whatever you were before Christ you are no longer so don’t believe anything different.  Get your Bible out and start learning and proclaiming the truth and the truth will set you free.  May the Lord bless you and yours and have a super day!!
