Choices

I want to talk about choices and free will today.  I know there are people that don’t believe in free will, they believe that the consequence of the choice you make decides your choice and decision.  In other words, you are being coerced into making the choice you make.  Let’s say, if you are a believer and you have the choice of denying the faith and living or not denying it and dying, the free choice is being determined by the consequence or coercion.  I believe that people can be coerced, or tempted, but the choice is still theirs to make.

One example is that we all have a choice to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior or to reject Him; if we chose to receive Him, we will have eternal life but if we chose not to, we will be in Hell in the end.  The Lord does everything He can to help us make the right choice, but in the end we have to make the choice to repent and receive, or not to.  That is the reason why if a person ends up in hell, God didn’t make that choice, they made the choice themselves.

You may say that no one can prove there is a God, so you refuse to make the choice to believe, but think of this, nobody can prove the wind either.  You can’t grab it in your hand, you cannot see it, nor do you know where it comes from or where it is on a calm day, no, all you can see are the effects of it, but it seems like everyone choses to accept that there is something called wind.  God is sort of the same way, you can’t grab ahold of Him literally or see Him through the physical eye, but you can surely see His workmanship.

It says this in Romans 1:18-25, “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.  Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.”

I believe it takes more faith to choose to disbelieve that there is a God than it does to believe.  I am not a scientist but everything I see around me had a designer, or a creator, even the chair I am sitting on and the computer I am using.  The way I see it, to believe that everything that exists, exists without a designer, or creator, is like me taking this computer apart, every nut, bolt, washer and everything else that is a part of it, and putting all the pieces in a big box and shaking it for billions of years and all of a sudden it all comes back together and runs perfectly, better yet just shaking the empty box for the same amount of time and then opening the box and ‘Walla’ there is a perfectly running computer.  Like I said it takes more faith to disbelieve in a creator than to believe in God, who is the Creator.

Jesus said this in John 3:16-18, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

If you have read this and you are a non-believer you have a choice to make and I hope you make the right one.  Escape the deception that has been told to you as truth and receive the real truth.  God does exist and He loves you and wants a relationship with you.  Tell the Lord you are sorry for your sins and ask Him to forgive you and to be your Lord and Savior.  If you sincerely mean what you say, I believe He will forgive you and you will be His child.  Then find a Bible believing church, plus a Bible and start growing and start thanking and praising the Lord.  May God bless you and yours and may you have a great day!!
