When we are going through a trial that seems enormous, something
that seems to occupy our minds and we can’t seem to shake it and it eats away
at us day after day, we want the Lord to move quickly, but no matter how much
we pray about it, it stubbornly seems to hang on, then we can get very
impatient. I see two choices we can
make, one we can hang on and dig in our heels and continue to pray and to trust
in the promises of God or two we can give up and throw in the towel, so to
speak.
I find it much easier to serve the Lord when everything is
going pretty smoothly and the blessings are rolling in. Kind of like the Israelites when they came out
of Egypt, the land of bondage, with all kinds of loot and animals. When they were set free they were happy, but
when things didn’t go the way they thought they should, they complained, and most
of us do the same thing today. In many
ways we are an impatient people.
Are you the kind of person that runs ahead of the Lord
trying to work things out in your own time because you think God is taking too
long? How is that working out for you? God’s timing is perfect, He is never too early
or too late.
I write on this subject at times because I have a problem
with waiting, like many others do and as I put these Tidbits together I also
learn from them but I don’t always apply everything to my life like I should. Not that this is an excuse, but having a tremor
like I have, I struggle with most of what I do which takes me much longer to
accomplish things and I get very impatient and upset at times. Living this way day after day, year after year,
it seems like I would be used to it by now, but it seems like one of those things
that is like a monkey on your back that you can’t get off. This is something I have waited on the Lord
to heal for many years but it just seems to get worse with time. I have saturated this problem with prayers and
had others pray over me but it still persists and hangs on with no letting up.
There are many people in my situation with different kinds
of ailments that they have struggled with for many years and they are still waiting
on the Lord. One that comes to mind is Joni
Eareckson Tada. She has been a quadriplegic
for many years but she has never given up on the Lord even though she has been waiting
on Him for many years and I don’t think she ever will. The Lord has used her in many ways over the years
especially with the handicapped. Joni
was talking with a soldier one time that was in a wheelchair, I don’t remember
the conversation, but I do remember something he said that went like this, “I would
rather be in this wheelchair with the Lord, then out of this wheelchair without
Him.” I think Joni would say the same
thing, along will many others including me. It is not always easy to wait on the Lord for
His promises to take place but it is the best choice.
Isaiah 40:28-31 says this:
“Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary,
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.”
So, if you are struggling with something today and don’t
know if you can hang on, let me encourage you with this Tidbit and also to say
that the Lord will not give us any more than we can handle with His help. Something to think about! May the good Lord bless you and yours with His
peace, love and joy, health and happiness and may you have a super day!!
