Light of The World

God created the heaven and the earth.  It says this about it in Genesis 1:1-5, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.”

It says many more things about God’s creative work but I want to focus on the light.  There are different things said about light in the Word of God but did you ever just think about how it came to be in the beginning?  How did God bring it about in the first place?  I have fooled with electricity at times, fixing cords, putting fuses in and other things but I don’t know a lot about how it really works.  I know that if you are not careful around it, it has the potential to harm you or even kill you.  I know that if I walk into a dark room and flip the light switch on it will cause light to flood the room, but like I said I really don’t know how it works.

Here is another thing, I always thought that God spoke everything into existence because the Word says that God said this and that, but if He spoke everything into existence why did it take six days to create the world in its entirety?  I am not positive, but I am positive that God was the creator whichever way He chose to do it.  How He created light from darkness is beyond me, but I am so glad that He did.

Just think about animals that always live in darkness or people that are blind, they miss out on so many beautiful things.  Don’t get me wrong, people that are blind have accomplished many important things and God has a plan for every one of them because He loves everyone equally.  Think about getting up early in the morning and seeing the sun come up or at night seeing the sunset or seeing the northern lights or on a clear night being able to see the stars and sometimes at night seeing a show of falling stars is incredible.  Seeing fields of beautiful green grass and an array of beautiful flowers in all their different shades of color and the animals and birds and reptiles in all their splendor, at times they can seem breathtaking.

Why would God create all of these beautiful things that we can enjoy and so much more?  Because He loves us!  The non-believer can see all these things also but they can’t see the beauty that the believer sees because the believers’ eyes and minds have been opened and the veil has been removed so they can see and appreciate what God has made far more than one that doesn’t believe, because they still remain in darkness.

It says this in 2 Corinthians 4:3-6, Paul speaking, “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

Something happened around 2000 years ago that was more beautiful than all the things I mentioned earlier and that was Jesus Christ who came into the world to bring light unto men.  It says this 1 John 1:1-11, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”

But even with all the splendor, beauty and light Jesus brought into the world, many hated Him and to this day they remain in darkness.  This is their condition, it says this in John 3:14-21, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

Let me say this, God’s creation is beautiful and Jesus is much more beautiful.  No one or nothing else can compare with Him, He was the God man and no one can appreciate His beauty until they have been born-again and their eyes and minds have been opened and only the Lord can do that miracle.  So what you need to do is believe, when God the Father draws you to Jesus His Son.

God’s Word says this in Romans 10:9-10, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

I think it would be a good thing to repent, which means to turn away from your sins, and ask the Lord to forgive you and to be the Lord of your life. Then find a Bible believing church, seeking the Lord’s direction in prayer and start growing in your faith.  Take your time and pray through letting the Lord fill your heart with His peace, love and joy.  Something to think about and may the good Lord bless you and yours and may you have a super day!!
