You Can’t Run With The Evil One

If you expect to walk through the Promised Land you cannot run with the evil one.  Some people seem to expect to live like the evil one during the week then on Sunday go to church for their quick fix and think everything is fine.

The Word of God says this in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18:
“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

‘I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.’

Therefore

‘Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.
I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.’”

This doesn’t mean to separate ourselves from the un-believer but it does mean to separate ourselves from sin.  It means not to marry or get into partnership with a non-believer.  It is important that we witness to the non-believer by our lives and also share our testimony about what the Lord has done, and is doing, in our lives.

Another thing I think it means is to get away from false preachers and teachers that are just lulling you to sleep week after week, with their stories, jokes and entertainment. If you are in church most every week and are not convicted of your sin, then you need to find another church where the conviction of the Holy Spirit is evident and you are made very uncomfortable in your sin, to the point that you repent and turn from it.  Think about it, if you are comfortable with your sin in church how much more comfortable will you feel all week in the world.  I don’t believe that anyone is just going to laugh their way to heaven even though I know that there is joy in the Lord and the joy of the Lord is our strength, but constant and complete joy will never happen until we get to heaven.

Without godly sorrow in a believer’s life, when sin has been committed, which we all sin at times, we may never repent or confess.  The Word of God says this in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

True repentance is the key to real joy in the believer’s life, without it you may say you have real joy, but inside you will be miserable, if you won’t repent maybe you have been deceived and you are not a believer at all.  Think about Peter and Judas, they both walked with Jesus and even performed miracles and they both denied the Lord.  Judas responded with bitterness and suicide but Peter responded with repentance and forgiveness so restoration was the result.

It says this in 2 Corinthians 7:9-11, “Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.”

Unless you repent with godly sorrow through the conviction of the Holy Spirit you may only be deceiving yourselves.  Sin has never been tolerated by God, and never will be, so don’t be lulled to sleep, running with the evil one all week and think because you come to church for your quick fix that all is well.  You can’t run with the evil one all week and walk through the Promised Land on Sunday, it does not work like that.  If this is you, I hope that this has been an eye opener and you will do the right thing and repent.  Something to think about; God bless and have a super day!!
