What is the one thing that makes people angrier than most anything else? It is something that many people are trying to do away with entirely from our society. This is something that has bothered people from the beginning of time. Many people have been, and are still being, persecuted for this reason. Many people when confronted with this, get very angry and some get so angry they have killed because of it. Many people say that Jesus was crucified because of sin, and that is true, but what happened that caused the people to get so mad that they killed Him because of it. I don’t think they said to themselves or to anyone else, “unless we kill Him, sins will never be forgiven,” think about it, they didn’t have any idea that was going to happen, most of them didn’t even believe that He was who He said He was.
So why did they kill Him? We know it was God the Father’s will that His Son Jesus would die for the sins of the people who would believe in Him but what was it that drove them to the point of murdering Him? If you haven’t guessed what it was yet I will give you a hint, the Word says they traded ‘this’ for a lie. Here is another hint, Jesus said this about Himself. If you haven’t figured it out yet, the answer is the ‘truth.’
It says in Romans 1:25, “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” Jesus said this about Himself in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
Truth is a hard pill to swallow, you might say, but on the other hand it is what will set you free bringing healing to the heart, soul, mind and spirit. Jesus said this in John 8:31-32, “Jesus therefor was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, if you abide in My word then you are truly disciples of mine, and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” It is sort of like an oxymoron to say that truth can bring life but it can also bring death. The reason I love truth is that it can never put you in bondage but it will always set you free. Truth can make you very uncomfortable and it can cause you to sweat but if you apply it to your life it will do nothing but set you free. Jesus also said in John 8:36, “If therefore the Son shall make you free you shall be free indeed.” Jesus claimed to be the truth, and He is, and if He sets someone free they are truly free indeed. The unbelieving Jews in Jesus’ day could not bear to hear the truth so instead of being set free they were enslaved by sin and lies, held captive by their own disbelieve.
Paul said this in 2 Timothy 3:12, “And indeed all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” Why would he make that statement? Because if you are a believer and you are witnessing, you will have to share the truth and there are multitudes that hate to hear the truth. So don’t be shocked if you are mocked and laughed at or worse, it is bound to happen sooner or later if you are a faithful witness, but try to remember this, they are not rejecting you they are rejecting the truth. Don’t give up because the truth is what is going to set people free, praise the Lord for the privilege of having it so that you can share it and bring hope to a deceived, sinful world. God bless and have a great day!!
