God’s Will For Your Life

Today I want to remind everyone that God’s perfect will for their lives may not be an easy road to travel.  Many believers find themselves in difficult situations and they wonder why God is allowing it to happen to them.  It is easy to think that God loves us unconditionally so we are going to float through life unabated, without problems.  But if you buy into that way of thinking you are going to be very disappointed and probably very angry at God.  If you are a practical thinking person you can search the Bible and you will find out that not anyone in the Word skated through life on cloud nine, so to speak, without a care in the world.  For instance Jesus was a good example, if anyone could have lived a cushy life He could have, but He went through more difficult times than most any of us will ever face.

Remember we live in a fallen world and because of the fall we reap the consequences.  There will always be turmoil, trouble and even uncontrolled circumstances; think about it, the very ground we walk on has been cursed and even believers are affected by that.  There will always be evil in the world and the curse will never be removed until the day it is purified by fire.

There will always be the haters and also those that truly love and they will be at odds with one another.  Think of what Jesus said in Matthew 10:34-36, “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.  For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.”  It is inevitable that there will be misunderstandings and turmoil in and amongst family members; not everyone in every family is going to embrace your new found faith.  And when this happens your commitment needs to be to Christ.  Just the mention of the name Jesus causes division and separation between some family members and even your, so called, friends.

If God’s will is for you to be a pastor, deacon, an evangelist, a missionary, a teacher or a stay at home mom, whatever it is, if you live a godly life you will run into problems at times.  The best thing to do is what Paul said in Romans 12:18, “If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.”  This is what we should be doing but it is not a guarantee that everyone will respond favorably toward you.  But remember Jesus said this; that the second commandment was to love your neighbor as yourself and He went even farther than that when He said to love your enemies and to pray for them.

I like to remind believers of these things every now and then so they don’t get too discouraged when they feel like the bottom has dropped out of their lives even though they are living for the Lord and wonder why.  Jesus said, “In this world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world.”  If Jesus suffered and all He did was good then how can we hope to just skate through life?

So don’t make the mistake of thinking that you are not in the perfect will of God because you are suffering or facing trials.  Remember Jesus was always in the perfect will of God and it was far from an easy life but He said, “not my will be done but thine will be done.”  So be encouraged in your trials and if you have to suffer for Christ just remember the Lord has counted you worthy to suffer for Him and there will be treasures in heaven waiting for you, it also shows that the Spirit of God rests on you if you endure to the end and not give up, praise the Lord.  God bless and praise and thank the Lord and have a great day!!
