Insolence

Insolence - Noun - Contemptuously, rude or impertinent behavior or speech; the quality or condition of being insolent.  Adj. - Offensive impudent disrespectful.

These are not exactly the qualities a Christian should want to have.  Insolence and pride will bring a person to ruination every single time.  The Pharisees had a big problem with these things, strutting around so high and mighty, full of self-righteousness.  These qualities are usually self-evident when people walk in the flesh and not the Spirit.  Nobody is immune to these sinful behaviors, not even believers.

The Bible says in James 5:16-17, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.  The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”  Because of the Lord’s extended favor on my family and me, to my shame, I have gotten caught up in this behavior also.  The Lord has blessed my family and me so much over the years with deliverance, healings, protection, finances and answers to prayers it seemed to have gone to my head.  I thought I was more special to God than other people, which for a long time made it easy to look down on everyone else.  I am very sorry for this behavior and have confessed it and repented because of it.

One of the things I have learned from this behavior is that anyone can be affected by this horrible sin but many may never confess it for various reasons.  It is very important for us to repent and confess our sins to find forgiveness and restoration.  And it is very important for us to pray for one another.  I didn’t plan on writing this but I feel it is what the Lord wanted me to do.  I would appreciate any prayers that would be beneficial for my family and me, and I thank you in advance for your prayers.

If you know anything about King Nebuchadnezzar you know he had this same problem and his consequence was very harsh.  King Nebuchadnezzar was warned by Daniel what the consequences would be but he didn’t repent so this was his punishment; it says in Daniel 4:33, “That same hour the judgment was fulfilled, and Nebuchadnezzar was driven from human society.  He ate grass like a cow, and he was drenched with the dew of heaven.  He lived this way until his hair was as long as eagles’ feathers and his nails were like birds’ claws.”  He was in this condition for seven years.  King Nebuchadnezzar may have thought he ruled all the other gods but the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords who was the true God, who made Nebuchadnezzar what he was, showed him who was in control.

God knows how to humble people and we don’t know how He will decide to do it.  God allowed the King victories to accomplish His purposes, God can use and will use anyone He wants, but each one has to be careful to stay humble and to give God all the glory.  When we start taking the credit for what God is doing in and through our lives then we run into a big problem; our attitude changes and we can easily become insolent and prideful.

If this lesson is speaking to you and you find yourself in this situation; repent, confess this sin and seek forgiveness.  Don’t wait a year like Nebuchadnezzar did and had to be humbled severely, do it now and get back your favor with the Lord.  May the Lord bless you and yours and have a great day!!
