Resurrection Morning

My last blog on Friday was about the Crucifixion, this morning I want to share the rest of the story.  When Jesus yielded up the ghost and breathed His last breath there was so much power released it was like the air was saturated with the power of God.  It says this in Matthew 27:50-53, “Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.  And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”

When they saw the things that were done, even the centurion and the others that were watching Jesus, feared greatly saying, “truly this was the Son of God.”  The darkness was no doubt supernatural and probably very strange and maybe even scary.  I am sure these people had seen many crucifixions but none with this kind of results.  When the veil was rent from top to bottom it was a supernatural experience which resulted in Jesus becoming the veil because now to get to God the Father you must go through Jesus the Son.  Check out Hebrews 10:20, “By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh.”

Then there was another shock in this story and that was a member of the Sanhedrin, whose name was Joseph, secretly went to Pilate and begged for the body of Jesus.  When he got permission, he took Jesus, wrapped Him in a clean linen cloth and laid Him in in his own (Joseph’s) new tomb then rolled a great rock in front of the entrance and left.

Now if this was the very end of this story it would just be a fable but the end is not yet, no way, with the power of God, the tomb and the grip of death could not hold Jesus and up from the grave He arose!  Jesus came forth in all His splendor, the grave had no power over Jesus and it had no victory!  Jesus defeated Satan, Hell, the grave and the sin grip on mankind and He will never have to experience death again, praise God!!  If Jesus hadn’t been resurrected everything else would have meant nothing and we would still be lost in our sin without a remedy, awaiting our place in the lake of fire, which is the second death.

But praise be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord, if we have been born-again, like Jesus said in John 3:3 we will have eternal life also.  And it will be like Paul said in I Corinthians 15:52-55, “In a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.  For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.  For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.  When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.  Where, O death, is your victory?  Where, O death, is your sting?’”

The power of God will bring forth out of the graves the bodies of the true believers that have died before the rapture, because the grave will not be able to hold them anymore and all the true believers will be caught up in the air and they will be changed in a twinkling of an eye and be forever with the Lord.  But in order for anyone to share in this miraculous event they must be born-again.  This is the prerequisite because there is no other way possible to get to God or heaven.  Unless you enter through Jesus you can never be justified to God the Father, regardless of whatever else you may have heard or been taught, there is only one way to get to God and that way is through Jesus.  Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way the truth and the life!  No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Praise the Lord, there is still hope for every unbeliever, and if that is you, turn your joy into mourning and your laughter into tears and weep over your sins, repent and ask the Lord to forgive you, and to be your Lord and Savior.  If you are sincere, I believe He will forgive your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness and you will become a child of God.  Then you will be born-again, praise the Lord!  Find a Bible believing church and start growing.  God bless and have a great day and don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord.
