Living in the Spirit

This is an interesting concept, but how many Christians achieve it?  How many of us really live by the Spirit’s power or do we just talk like it is possible?  We really have no excuse for not living this way if we are Christians because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.  If we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us then we should be living in the Spirit’s power.

If this is true then why is sin so rampant in the church?  Why do people who were raised in the church, confessing to be Christians, get married and then divorce one another, for trivial reasons in many cases?  The Bible says that God hates divorce, but from what I have heard there are more divorces in the church than in the world.

And what about the anger, bitterness and un-forgiveness that takes place in the church!  I don’t like to write these kinds of messages but in all reality these things are true.  People seem to be jealous of one another and refuse to work with certain people, there are clicks that are very hard to infiltrate.  I am not pointing the finger, but I am just trying to bring out the truth.  I have seen these things happening for years and have also been involved in some of these things myself, to my shame.

Ask yourself these questions, is the church getting better, staying the same or getting worse in these areas?  When is the last time you have been hurt by some of these things?

Paul said to the Ephesian church in chapter 5 verses 15-18, “So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise.  Make the most out of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days.  Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do.  Don’t be drunk with wine because that will ruin your life. Instead let the Holy Spirit fill and control you.”  I think Paul’s words are something that we should put into practice because we also live in an evil time in history.

What the church seems to be lacking today is genuine love for one another as well as commitment and dedication towards one another.  Does the Bible say to do unto others before they do it unto you, no, it says, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”  What we need is a great awakening in the church, we need a Holy Spirit revival to take place.  I believe every Christian should be sincerely praying often for a revival and a great awakening to take place in the church.  We need to stop grieving the Spirit of God by our sins.

If we are walking in the power of the Spirit then the works of darkness will not be manifested in our lives, praise God!  Then we will have the peace and joy that God intended for us to have within us.  Then instead of walking around feeling rejected and defeated because of the sin in our lives, we will be able to rejoice and sing to the Lord.  Paul said this in verses 19-20, “Then you will sing Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves making music to the Lord in your hearts.  And you will always give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Halleluiah, praise the Lord!!  Have a great day and God bless you!
