Are You Convinced

This is another reminder, it is that God loves you and me and He loves us unconditionally.  But if we are only taught about God’s love we will miss out on some very important parts of His character.  The truth is if we read and study the whole Bible we will see all the attributes of God and that is very important.  We all need a balance in our way of thinking, if we are only taught one way then we lose the proper perspective of whatever we are learning.

It is like a coin, it has two sides, and so does every story and every person.  I think about people who are dating, they want the person they are dating to see their best side so they put their best foot forward, so to speak.  In all reality if they were transparent they would see their worst side also and then they could make a much more practical decision about their future with each other.  The best thing to do when you’re dating is to be more transparent and be yourself.  In the end honesty will bring the best results. This may be why many marriages end up in divorce because of the lack of honesty while dating.

Just like most everything else, the Lord has what you might call two sides or different attributes also, and like I said earlier in the lesson God loves us unconditionally but we all have to realize that God is a just God who cannot tolerate sin in any form.  Understand God is so pure and holy that He cannot even look at sin.

Think about when Jesus was hanging on the cross when He said, ”Father why hast Thou forsaken me?”  I don’t think that God the Father would ever forsake Jesus His son but He may have turned His back on the sins that Jesus took upon Himself so that all who trusted in Him could be forgiven.

Why does the Bible say that God is a jealous and wrathful God and also a consuming fire?  Does that mean that He is a tyrant and unfair and demanding God?  No.  These are part of His attributes and when He resorts to these things He uses them from a loving perspective, He never punishes or corrects without good reason and He never does it with any other perspective than out of love.

Nobody will be able to convict God of wrong doing.  Some people blame God for the wars and destruction in the Old Testament.  It is true God did allow different nations to be destroyed and He fought with the Israelites while these nations were being destroyed.  But He did it out of love for the nation of Israel because He loved them and chose them and He still loves them to this very day.  But that wasn’t the only reason God did what He did, the other nations were wicked and would never follow and obey Him. God isn’t happy when His enemies are destroyed because He loved them also but He knew that they would never turn to Him in submission.

I said all this to tell you this truth along with Paul the Apostle in Romans 8: 38-39, “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

I hope after all I have written, you are convinced that God loves you with an unconditional love.  Praise the Lord and God Bless you and have a great day.
