Sharing The Faith

Most believers know what it says about faith in Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”   Also Hebrews 11:6, “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”  And most of us know where faith comes from as it says in Romans 10:17, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”

We may know these things, but how many are sharing their faith with others?  Knowing about what faith is and how to get it is a good start but if that is where it ends it is only knowledge.  Do you know that every cult member has faith in something and some are very dogmatic in sharing their faith?

I think Christians are the most intimidated when it comes to sharing their faith and that should be no surprise, read what Jesus said in John 15:18-21, “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me.”

Think of the first church in the book of Acts and how it was said of them that they had turned the world upside down, even in a time of severe persecution.  Think about this, how did you become a believer?  Someone must have shared the Word with you in some capacity or other, and because of their faithfulness you became a believer, so go and do likewise.  Some people think they need to know so much more than they know about the Word.  It is great to know the Word but each of us has a testimony and you don’t have to know the whole Bible to be an effective witness, I don’t think anyone knows it all.

First you can ask this question: do you know where you would go if you died today?  Then depending on the answer, you can start a conversation by telling people how much God loves them.  You can even use your own testimony of what God has done for you.  When you share with people, do it with enthusiasm and excitement.  Before you witness, be sure you are prayed up and that you spend time with the Lord seeking His wisdom, power and boldness and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.  People in the days when Jesus walked the earth acknowledged the fact that the disciples were unlearned men but that they had been with Jesus.  If you spend a lot of time with Jesus, people will know by your actions and words and one thing they won’t be able to deny is your love.  It says this in John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Try not to be offensive but be sensitive and patient and remember you are either sowing or watering, it is the Lord that does the reaping.  So don’t be too discouraged if people don’t respond positively all the time, just continue to be faithful and the good Lord will bless your faithfulness.  Something to think about!  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may you have a super day!!
