Let Us Worship The Lord

What do you think worship is or what does it mean to you?  For me, I think worship is something I express from my heart to God out of my appreciation for Him and it also expresses my appreciation for who He is and what He is and also for what He has done.  I think true worship comes from a person’s heart that is full of gratitude, thanksgiving, adoration and awe of His majesty.  Worship is all about the Lord and not about us, it is expressing what we feel inside and should always be the expression of our hearts; for out of the abundance of our hearts should flow worship and praise.

Psalms 95:1-6 says this,
“O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord,
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving,
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
For the Lord is a great God
And a great King above all gods,
In whose hand are the depths of the earth,
The peaks of the mountains are His also.
The sea is His, for it was He who made it,
And His hands formed the dry land.

Come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”

This Psalm was an invitation by David to worship God.  David expressed many different feelings and concerns in the Psalms pouring out his heart to the Lord and one of the things he did quite often was to express thanksgiving and praise.  David had experienced God’s forgiveness, protection, victory over his enemies, God’s restoration and God’s peace, love and joy, even when he didn’t deserve it.  David knew the joy of serving the Lord and also the heartache; he loved God and expressed it through worship and praise!!

I like doing Tidbits on this subject every once in a while because I am trying to get people to realize how important it is.  God inhabits the praise of His people!  He loves it when we praise Him from a pure heart that has been washed and cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus, His only begotten Son, can you say Amen!!  This is not only for His benefit but we benefit also because if we are worshiping the Lord from an attitude of true thanksgiving and praise, our mind will be on Him and not on us and our problems.  True believers are the only ones that can truly worship the Lord, for they are the only ones that can worship in Spirit and truth because only true believers have the Holy Spirit within them.

When Jesus was talking to the woman at the well in Samaria, he said this in John 4:21-24, “Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.’”

God is a Spirit, not a physical being, and is everywhere, so we are not limited to where we can worship Him, so it is not so important where we worship Him but it is important how we worship Him.  Question: is your worship genuine and real?

There are a couple anonymous Psalms:
 one is Psalm 148: 1-14:
“Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!
Praise Him, all His angels;
Praise Him, all His hosts!
Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all stars of light!
Praise Him, highest heavens,
And the waters that are above the heavens!
Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For He commanded and they were created.
He has also established them forever and ever;
He has made a decree which will not pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth,
Sea monsters and all deeps;
Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
Mountains and all hills;
Fruit trees and all cedars;
Beasts and all cattle;
Creeping things and winged fowl;
Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all judges of the earth;
Both young men and virgins;
Old men and children.

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For His name alone is exalted;
His glory is above earth and heaven.
And He has lifted up a horn for His people,
Praise for all His godly ones;
Even for the sons of Israel, a people near to Him.
Praise the Lord!”

And also Psalm 150:1-6:
“Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty expanse.
Praise Him for His mighty deeds;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.

Praise Him with trumpet sound;
Praise Him with harp and lyre.
Praise Him with timbrel and dancing;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!”

I thought maybe these would put you in the mood to want to worship and praise Him!!  Something to think about!  May you have a super blessed day!!
