Let me ask you some questions:
What is your relationship to God and who is Jesus to you?
Are their names just cursing words and are they just fictional
figures in your
mind?
What do you think of when you hear someone talking about them;
does it
disturb you or spark an interest in
you?
What do you think about the Bible, God’s love letter to you
and to all of
mankind?
I know I would get all kinds of answers to these questions,
some positive and some very negative. Let
me say this to those that would be very negative, don’t judge the book by the
cover or by what you have heard. Some well-meaning
believers, in their enthusiasm, may have turned you off because of their insensitivity,
being so excited to share the Word with you, not meaning any harm whatsoever. You may have been taught all your life things
that are not true about the Christian faith, about God and His beloved Son, Jesus
Christ. Not everyone who claims to be a
believer is, and there is a lot of false doctrine out there. I have heard this said which I think is worth
remembering and repeating, and it went something like this, I am not in any way
trying to be facetious, but when you hear someone speaking about the Word of
God you may think of it as eating chicken, you eat the meat and throw out the
bones.
My challenge to you is this; if you really want to know what
God’s Word says, get a King James Bible and start reading it with an open mind,
sincerely asking God to reveal the truth to you, and I sincerely believe that
He will. God’s purpose for you, and me,
and everyone, is that they would have a personal relationship with Him.
God’s Word starts out with how He created the universe and
all the living things in it, and He did it all in six days and He rested on the
seventh day. God saw everything that He
had made and behold everything was good. God formed man from the dust of the ground and
breathed into him the breath of life and he took a rib from the man’s side and
made a woman to be his helpmate. God loved
them and put them in a beautiful garden, called Eden, where He provided for
their every need. He even walked with
them in the cool of the day. There was only one thing He kept from them which
was the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, and that was for their
own good because He loved them. Because
of God’s love for them, He allowed them to have a free will, which in time they
choose to rebel against God and that is when sin entered the world and all their
descendants inherited a sin nature from them, check it out in Genesis 3.
That is why God’s Word says this in Romans 3:9-12, “What then? Are we better than they? Not at
all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all
under sin. As it is written: there is none righteous, no, not one;
there is none who
understands; there is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; they
have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one.”
And it also says this in verse 23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Even though we were separated from God because of our sins,
He loved us enough to provide a way that we could once more have fellowship
with Him, praise be to God!! What we
needed was a perfect sacrifice, one that would be willing to give his life for
us, one who had never sinned, and there was only one who could possibly do that
for us and that was Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son. The amazing thing was that God was willing to
give His Son, not only for the Jews, His chosen people, but even for His
enemies, the Gentiles and Greeks, and all who sinned, who didn’t deserve it. What kind of God is that? He is the only true God, one that is full of compassion,
mercy, love and, of course, grace. When
sin separated us from this Holy and righteous God, He was moved with so much
love and compassion that He provided a way, when there was no way.
Read John 3:16-17, “For
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not
send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through
Him might be saved.”
If you are still not convinced, check out the archeological findings,
if you really want to know the truth you will find it. The Lord said this to the Israelites that were
in captivity in Babylon, and I believe if we seek Him with all our hearts we
will also find Him, read Jeremiah 29:10-13, “For
thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit
you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of
peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon
Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and
find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
The choice is yours, you can choose to repent of your sins
and ask the Lord to forgive you and to reveal Himself to you and to be your
Lord and Savior, or you can reject Him and die in your sins, totally separated
from Him. I hope you make the right choice.
God bless you and yours and have a super
day!!
