Bread From Heaven

Jesus claimed to be the bread of life, the living bread that came down from Heaven. Read what Jesus said about himself in John 6:43-59, “Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Do not grumble among yourselves. No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught of God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.’

Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, ‘How can this man give us His flesh to eat?’ So Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.’

These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.”

When some of the disciples heard this, they couldn’t receive it, saying this is a hard saying.  The twelve disciples that Jesus chose believed in Him and continued to follow Him.  When Jesus asked the twelve, “will you also go away?”  Peter said, “Lord to whom shall we go, you have the words of eternal life?”  This is a good example of the non-believers who cannot receive the things of God, for these things are spiritually discerned and without the Spirit’s help you can’t understand these things.

Read what it says in 1 Corinthians 2:12-16, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.

But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.”

Only a born-again believer understands spiritual things because they have the mind of Christ!!  No one can come to Jesus without God the Father drawing them to Jesus and no one will get to heaven without going by the way of the cross, through Jesus, God’s Son.  Jesus said this in John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.’”

We need to get ahold of these truths; we can do nothing without God permitting it to take place.  Many times we boast saying, “we are going to do this and that and go here and there,” when we should say, “if God is willing we will do these things.”  Outside of that we don’t know what is going to happen at any given moment.

Read what it says in Psalms 37:22-24, “For those blessed by Him will inherit the land, but those cursed by Him will be cut off. The steps of a man are established by the Lord, and He delights in his way. When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, because the Lord is the One who holds his hand.”

Everything depends on the Lord, read Psalms 127:1-2, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late,
to eat the bread of painful labors; for He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.”

If you want to know the bread from heaven, the bread of life and partake of His grace and love, draw nigh to Him and He will draw nigh to you.  If you feel God drawing you today, don’t resist, humble yourself before the Lord and ask Him to be the Lord of your life.  He loves you and if you repent and ask Him, He will forgive you of your sins and transform your life.  Let Him fill you with His peace, love and joy.  Then share your new found faith with someone else and start growing in the Lord.  Go to a church that preaches the truth of God’s Word.

Something to think about!  Have a super day and may God bless you and yours!!
