Broken Hearted

Do you feel broken hearted, rejected, abandoned and lonely, feeling like nobody cares?  If you do, you are not alone; there are many that feel that way especially at this time of year.  I think at this time of year everyone should be happy and rejoicing because it is the time of year we celebrate the birth of the Christ child.  When I think about the angels announcing His birth and the kings and wise men bringing Him gifts, what a celebration there must have been in heaven at that time.  A Savior was born whom they were to call Emanuel (God with us) in the form of a baby lying in a manger.  God visited His people.

I know that over many, many years this time of the year has gotten so materialized and instead of being a time of rejoicing it has become a time of sadness and pain and, for many, a dreaded time of the year.  With the loss of jobs and the economy in decline, healthcare and taxes on the rise and so many other things up in the air including the loss of homes and property, because of these things plus storms and sicknesses and families disintegrating, many feel like there is no real answer in sight, many are disillusioned and broken hearted.  When we lose sight of what Christmas is supposed to represent, then Christmas loses its meaning and has just become another holiday and that, sadly to say, is what many people think of it as.  When Christmas gets to be more of a burden than a joy, causing people to be broken hearted rather than happy, then the true meaning behind it is distorted, and instead of bringing joy it will cause sadness, something that it was never intended to do.  So if Christmas is more of a burden than a joy to you, I am sorry for whatever the reason and I hope this ‘Tidbit' will encourage you.

These are the reasons Jesus Christ has been born unto us, read what it says in Isaiah 61:1-2:
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn.”

This relates to separating the day of grace connected with His first coming, which we live in today, from the day of vengeance at His second coming.  At that time there will be vengeance for His enemies and comfort for all who mourn, respecting Israel, who has finally come home to Him.

Jesus went on to say more in Isaiah but He stopped here in Luke 4:18-21,  saying this:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, ‘Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.’”

This is a picture of the deliverance of the exile of Israel from Babylon as in the year of Jubilee when all debts are canceled, all slaves are set free and all property is returned to the original owner.  But from my understanding, being released from Babylon hadn’t brought about the fulfillment the people expected being still conquered and oppressed, so Isaiah must have been talking about a future time.  This was fulfilled in Jesus, in His day.

When I think about all the things Jesus did; the people He healed, the people He delivered and set free from demons, and He even raised the dead, and the things He taught and how He demonstrated what He taught by example, it encourages me and it should do the same for you also.  Then if that wasn’t enough, Jesus laid down His life for all mankind, even His enemies, so that all who believe in Him would not perish but have eternal life.  Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, He is not a man that He should lie and He doesn’t change by turning.  He has delivered people that were devastated, oppressed and broken hearted and even suicidal and what He did then He still can and does today, praise the Lord!  So there is hope for you.

I know things may look bleak on the outside but on the inside you can still have joy.  This supernatural peace and joy only comes from the Lord and you can only get it from Him through a personal relationship with Him.  If you are tired of living without hope and are broken hearted or dissatisfied with your life and the way you are going, turn your life over to the Lord and let Him mend the broken pieces and restore hope to you.  Repent, by turning away from your sins, and ask the Lord to forgive you and be the Lord and Savior of your life.  Let Him fill you with His peace, love and joy, then you will have something to rejoice about and Christmas will take on a whole new meaning.  The Lord has a free gift for you this Christmas called grace and salvation, so give Him the gift of your soul.  Something to think about!  May you have a super day and may the good Lord bless you and yours!!
