A Proper Perspective

Only in Christ can we get a proper perspective in life and insight into what our purpose is and why we are here.  There is a purpose for life but some never seem to get a grip on that.  Some think they should go for the gusto doing everything that makes them happy at whatever the cost, others have a goal of making money, buying whatever they see that they like and being looked up to as a rich person.  Some people want power, lording over others, looking down on them and treating them as servants.  Then there are people who want to get to the top in their business no matter who they have to step on to get there.  Prosperity, power and popularity are the world’s value system and seem to be what motivates many with the prospect of having it all before they pass on to the next life, in which many don’t even believe that there is a next life just a long rest.

The truth is there is a purpose for life and that purpose is to fear God and honor Him, making Him Lord of your life.  Living for you and your selfish desires is not the purpose you are here; taking up your cross and denying yourself and following the Lord is the purpose you are here.  Loving God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind and loving your neighbor as yourself is the purpose we are here.  Many live as if their only responsibility is to themselves and that is not true, we have a responsibility to our neighbors also.

Living selfishly and trying to gain the whole word at the cost of your soul is foolishness; read what Jesus says to His disciples about this in Matthew 16:26-27, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.”

The soul is more important than anything else because it is eternal.  This is talking about believers and un-believers alike; the believers will receive rewards and the un-believers will receive eternal damnation at the Great White Throne Judgment.  I believe we will all stand before the Lord some day and the books will be open and everyone’s hearts will be exposed, and all the intents of the heart will be laid bare before God and us and He will judge the dead according to what they have done, either good or bad.

Read what it says in Revelations 20:11-15, “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”

This will be the worst day in a non-believers life!  All who squandered away their chance to make Jesus their Lord and Savior by rejecting Him, what a sad day that will be!  But there is good news!  God has made a way of escape from this place of torment through Jesus Christ His only beloved Son who willingly shed His blood for our redemption and reconciliation to God the Father.  If you are reading this it is not too late for you to repent of your sins and ask the Lord to forgive you and to be your Lord and Savior, to change your life and make you a new creation in Him and if you are sincere I believe He will.  Then you can go forth rejoicing and praising Him.  Don’t be in a hurry; let Him fill you with His peace, love and joy then go share what has happened with others.  Start growing in the faith and learn the purpose why you are here.  Something to think about!  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may you have a super day!!
