Opposition and Reality

If the Word of God is true, why do so many oppose it?  There has been opposition over the Word for years, some for it, many against it.  Some people stand rigidly opposed to the Word, vigorously trying to make a mockery of it trying to prove that it is a lie, while others were willing to give their lives for it because it was like a treasure to them.  

I read in a book a long while ago, that prisoners, who were in prison for their faith, would stay up all night long just so they could write down one page of the Bible if they could get their hands on as it was being passed around from person to person, which could have cost them their lives if they were caught.  Then I read, or heard, that only 10 or 20 percent of those that claim to be believers today even read their Bibles, what a shame!  Then there are people that seem to think that some of the Bible is for today while other parts aren’t, thinking they can pick and choose the things they like and eliminate what they don’t like or what they don’t agree with.  I believe the Word of God is the whole truth and nothing but the truth.  The Word of God has stood the test of time and has been verified by all those who wrote it, being inspired by the Lord.

It says this about the Word of God in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

There have been archeological finds that verify different parts of the Word and there are many prophesies in the Old Testament that were fulfilled many, many years later in the New Testament while some are still being fulfilled many years later right in front of our eyes in our generation.  So why are so many opposed to the Word today? There are many reasons for this, let me hit on a few.

The main culprit is the evil one, it says this about him in 2 Corinthians 4:1-4, “Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.“  The evil one is in the business of deception; he blinds the unbeliever’s eyes to the good news of the gospel and does all he can to keep them in the dark.  The Lord came to shine His light in the darkness and to set the captive free.  

Another reason is that people trade the truth of God for a lie, the Word says this in Romans 1:18-25, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”  Will anyone be without an excuse?  No!

Another reason some people choose to reject God and not believe the Word is because they are choosing to serve other gods, such as money, fame, power and even comfort.

Another reason is they choose to be their own god, being unwilling to bow down to anyone else, so they oppose the truth.

Someday everyone will know the Word was true because the Word says this in Revelations 1:7, “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.”  When Jesus returns, everyone will know the Word was true, but it will be too late for many and so sad, so don’t be one of the ones that are left behind because of your refusal to believe.  All those who live in unbelief, when they leave this earth will be lost and tormented forever, and like I said in other Tidbits, God’s purpose is not that any be lost and He will put no one in Hell, if you go there it will be by your own choice.  

If you are reading this and you are not a born-again believer but you feel the Holy Spirit’s conviction and God is drawing you, don’t put it off another minute.  Repent and ask the good Lord to forgive you of your sins and to come into your heart and be the Lord of your life.  Let me encourage you to tarry before the Lord and don’t be in a big hurry, let the Lord’s peace, love and joy flow through your heart, mind, soul and body, then start thanking and praising the Lord.  Get a Bible and start studying the Word and spend time communicating with the Lord.  Ask the Lord which church He wants you to start attending and start growing.  Something to think about, God bless and have a super day!!
