Wisdom

What is wisdom?  I think wisdom is applying the knowledge you have acquired in the right way.  We read and obtain knowledge about a lot of things but without wisdom all you have is head knowledge; like I said I think wisdom is the application of such knowledge.

For example, there are many people that read the Word, but how many put it into practice and apply it to their lives?  Wisdom is more than knowing what to do, it is doing what you know to be true; not only when it affects your life but also when it affects others as well.  It is not only knowing right from wrong, or what is good or bad, but acting positively and putting the right things in motion.

There is what you might call worldly wisdom, and there have been a lot of things accomplished because of it, but true wisdom comes from the Lord.  The Bible says in James 1:5, “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”  This is the ability to make wise choices in difficult situations not just have the knowledge.

We can ask God to guide our choices.  The Word says this about wisdom also in Psalms 111:10, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments;
His praise endures forever.”  The only way to be truly wise is to fear (reverence) God, always remember true wisdom comes from the Lord and not just through our experiences.  God is the foundation of true wisdom.

Without His guidance, we will walk on shaky ground.  Psalms 112:1 says, “Praise the Lord!  How blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in His commandments.”  If you expect to be blessed by God, you must fear Him, believe His promises and gladly obey Him.

Now check this out in Proverbs 2:1-11,

“My child, listen to what I say,
and treasure my commands.
Tune your ears to wisdom,
and concentrate on understanding.
Cry out for insight,
and ask for understanding.
Search for them as you would for silver;
seek them like hidden treasures.
Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord,
and you will gain knowledge of God.
For the Lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him.

Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair,
and you will find the right way to go.
For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will fill you with joy.
Wise choices will watch over you.
Understanding will keep you safe.”

Gaining wisdom will take a long time but it is something to strive for.  When you read and study the Word of God you are putting wisdom into your mind constantly.  The Bible says this in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  And while you are seeking wisdom, studying the Word, don‘t hesitate to ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and to bring the things back to your mind when you need them that He taught you.  Remember the Holy Spirit is the true teacher and we need His help also to gain true wisdom.

Never forget this there is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit but there is only one God, not three gods, like some people teach.  No, there is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit but they are all one in three forms, I don’t want any confusion about that.  I think I have said enough, May the good Lord bless you and keep you, may His light shine upon you and give you peace.  Have a great day!!
