God

Have you ever said this, “what has God ever done for me?”  I heard a man say that God had never done anything for him.  If you were born, God allowed it to happen and, if you were ever sick and were healed, no matter if it was a miracle or through a doctor, God allowed that also.  The man that said that about God was blessed so many times but he was blinded to that fact.

Did you ever read Psalms 117?  There are only 2 verses in that whole chapter and the author is anonymous.  The 2 verses say this, “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!  For His merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!”  Psalms 117 is the shortest chapter in the Bible and it shows that God’s salvation is for all people and not only for the Jews.  If you think you have nothing to thank and praise the Lord for these 2 verses give you 3 reasons: 1. God’s mercy; 2. God’s kindness; 3. God is truthful.  If not for God’s mercy we would have no hope, all we would have to look forward to would be death and suffering.  We would live a life of sin, corruption and misery if we existed at all.  There would be anarchy and the strong would rule over the weak.

What if God was a tyrant and ruled with an iron fist, ranting and raving all the time, never being satisfied with anything we did, punishing us all the time and always belittling us?  What if He always threw our sins in our face all the time and condemned us, threatening to destroy us?  What a miserable existence it would be.  Thank the Lord that He is kind, loving, merciful and not a tyrant.

God’s loving kindness brings forth repentance check out Romans 2:4, “Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?”

And also check out Titus 3:1-8 which says, “Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.  This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.”  Through these verses you see God’s loving kindness to the human race.

And also our God is always truthful, never tells a lie, His promises are true and we can count on that fact, praise the Lord!!  The Lord said, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me.”  The fact is, God cannot tell a lie, that would be sin and God cannot sin, or even be tempted to sin.  And God’s truth does, and will endure forever.

So if you ever hear anyone say that God has never done anything for them, you might tell them what you read here.  Of course, there are many things you could tell them that would encourage them, like if they are breathing, it is God doing something for them.  God is amazing and truly awesome and think about this, God loves YOU!!  God bless you and have a great day!! Take some time today to thank Him and praise Him, He is worthy.
