God’s concern for lost souls is demonstrated in His Word,
even though it is hard for many to comprehend it. Far too many think about the one who created
the Heavens and the earth in a negative way, wondering how He could be so
concerned about people if He allows bad things to happen. But, if you think about it, do any of us
really understand the grace of God, His unmerited favor? If you think about it you may have wondered
how God could have such a concern about His creation.
Think about the people in Noah’s day who perished when the flood
waters covered the earth and only eight people survived and you may wonder why
God allowed that to take place or what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah and why
did God allow that to take place? You
may struggle with a lot of things that you don’t understand, for instance, why
does God allow bad things to happen to good people, if I can relate to it that
way. Come to think about it, is anyone good?
In God’s Word a man called Jesus good,
His reply was that only God was good.
I am not a preacher or a scholar but from what I have been
taught, God is not only gracious, loving, kind and merciful, He is also a just
God, treating each person equally for He is a fair and just judge, He sees and
knows and understands every side of an issue. He cannot be bribed, coerced, intimidated, overpowered,
frightened or deceived. He knows the
thoughts and intents of a person’s heart, seeing right into the soul of all His
creation. He cannot be bamboozled or hoodwinked
as some people put it, and no one can put anything over on Him, because He
knows all things. He is much, much wiser and smarter than anyone that has ever
lived, so He can rightly judge all people fairly.
Some might say that God is unfair in His dealings with mankind
because of some of the events I mentioned earlier, but I don’t think so. Can I convince you of this? No, I can’t, only God can reveal it to you but
I can give you my opinion and some scriptures for whatever it is worth. I believe that God has revealed Himself to
every person in one way or another through His Creation, His prophets and other
resources. Some didn’t have Bibles and
the multitude of resources like we have in our day, but if you think about the
people that had experiences with God, they must have shared them with others
like many of us do today.
Take for instance Adam and Eve; they walked with God in the
cool of the day. When they were expelled,
I am sure they shared the experiences they had with God with others, how could
they keep it to themselves? And what
about Noah, it took 120 years to complete the Ark, how many people heard about
God in that period of time? All down
through the ages of time people heard about God but many liked sin and its effects
more than they liked the Creator.
It says this in Romans 1:18-25,“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness
and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because
what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For
since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead,
so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not
glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and
their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools,
and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like
corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
Therefore God also
gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their
bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and
worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed
forever. Amen.”
God has given man a free will to choose, think about it, if
God made your choices, would that be fair? We would be just a bunch of robots, God wants
us to love Him and obey Him from our own free will not because He makes us, if He
made us love Him that wouldn’t be true love. Before Noah’s day and while Noah was building the
Ark all the people had an opportunity to honor God, but they refused to and God
knew that would be their choice and they wouldn’t change their mind. Like I said, God knows all things and at that
time the earth was full of violence.
I am convinced that everyone has an opportunity to believe
and honor God, but many will, and have, rejected that choice. If you think God is unfair, think again, many
of the bad things that occur are because of our bad choices and our choices
have consequences, whether you are a believer or a non-believer. God’s Word says this, “We will reap what we sow.” Instead of blaming God for your problems,
think about your own choices you have made, that may have brought on the
problems you are facing, then take responsibility for your own failures and
instead of blaming God, repent and ask Him to forgive you and help you to
overcome whatever you have gotten yourself into. Something to think about and may God bless you
and yours and may you have a super day!!
