Spiritually Dead

This is the condition of every non-believer as well as every person that is just full of religion and everyone that is not born-again.  That includes all those that claim to believe in God but have no fruits to show it.  Anyone can say they believe in God, in fact the Word says this in the latter part of James 2:19, “The devils also believe and tremble.”  But they are still spiritually dead in their wickedness and sin.

Living life and claiming to be a believer means more than just words, it means a life committed to the Lord, it means a personal relationship that will result in a transformed life not just intellectual acknowledgement by a person.  There are many people that have been deceived; they claim to be believers, and even attend church, but live like the devil all week.  Remember this, just because you find a mouse in the cookie jar doesn’t make him a cookie.  Talk is easy but actions speak louder than words.

I write about these things in hopes that all of the people that read my ‘Tidbits’ will escape this deception if they are in this situation.  If this is you that I am talking to and you want to escape this masquerade and you feel the pull of God, or the conviction of the Holy Spirit, the good news is that it is possible.  Every born-again believer has been in your shoes, so to speak, but praise the Lord they have all been brought out of darkness into God’s marvelous light and you can be to.  Even though this is impossible for man, all things are possible with God.

It talks about the spiritually dead made alive in Christ, praise the Lord, in Ephesians 2:1-10, read this encouraging news, “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.  But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Satan, or the devil, was considered the ruling force over the demons and all those that stood against Christ.  Satan means adversary but Jesus won the victory at the cross over His adversary Satan, praise the Lord.  In 2 Corinthians 4:1-4 it says this, in Paul’s words about the devil and how he blinds people’s eyes, “Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up. We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this.  If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.”

Paul also speaks of God’s marvelous light in verse 4:6 ” For God, who said, ‘Let there be light in the darkness,’ has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.”

When Jesus talked about the four soils in Matthew 13, He says this in verse 19, “The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts.”  The evil one is always at work to keep people from understanding the Word and being set free.  Jesus said, “If you know the truth, the truth will set you free.”

When I pray for non-believers, many times I pray that God will open their eyes and ears and remove the veil from their minds so they will be able to hear and see and understand the Word of God and come to knowledge of Jesus, my Savior and Lord.  I also have prayed this for everyone that may read these ‘Tidbits’ who don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus.  So if that is you, and you are sick of your old sinful life and you are convinced that Jesus is your only hope, ask the Lord to forgive you of your sin and be your Lord and Savior and tell Him you are sorry.  Ask Him to remove Satan’s influence and works in your life and to remove anything that would hinder you from believing and trusting in Him and then, thank Him.  Then find a Bible believing church and get a Bible and start studying and hiding God’s Word in your heart so you can apply it to your life.  Don’t just think about it, do it!  May the Lord bless you and yours and have a great day!!
