Heart

I think the heart is the most important part of a person and I don’t mean the little pump that is in the middle of your chest.  I know that little pump is very important too, it is what keeps you alive and when it stops every other function of the body eventually stops functioning and you are pronounced legally dead.  But the heart I am talking about is the part that controls your thinking process and your emotional stability and your very essence, or being, or nature, basically who you are.

The Bible has some negative assessments of the unrepentant heart.  It says this in Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?”  It also says this about the heart in Matthew 12:34-35, “You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good?  For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.  The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil.”

I think there are many other verses that speak about the heart and there are also books on the subject.  We can get a pretty good understanding of what the unrepentant heart looks like from God’s point of view.  The heart of flesh can, and is, very wicked and out of it comes, according to Matthew 15:18-19 these things, “But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man.  For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.”
Here we have a long list of what the heart of a non-believer looks like and helps us to discern the condition of a non-believer.

This ‘tidbit’ is for all the believers that want a relationship, partnership or are thinking about marriage to a non-believer; run from that relationship and don’t pursue it any longer.  More people live miserable lives in those kinds of situations.  Thinking you will change the other person does not work, for the most part, and if it does work you will conform to things that will hinder your spiritual growth and your relationship with the Lord.  If you are a believer, you will never be on the same page with a non-believer, it cannot happen so don’t kid yourselves and don’t allow yourselves to be deceived by your emotions.  It may be hard to break off the relationship but in the long run you will save yourself years of grief.

Pray about it, the Lord has your best interest in mind and He is the only one who knows who or what is best for you, He also knows many people that would be far better for you, if that is His will for your life.  As far as marriage goes, we are talking about something that is supposed to last for a lifetime, so try to be patient and wait on the Lord to provide that special someone for you, and He will if it is His will for your life.

If you won’t listen to me, heed this warning that Paul spoke to the Corinthian church in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, “Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?  Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?  Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols?  For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.  Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,’ says the Lord. ‘And do not touch what is unclean; and I will welcome you.  And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me,’ says the Lord Almighty.”

I hope this will help you to make the right decision and save you a lot of grief.  I believe this was a warning for every believer, excluding none, and it is the same for us today.  If you are in this situation meditate on what was said here and please don’t just blow it off, then make the right choice.  May the Lord bless you and have a great day!!
