Much Love

I have read about this many times; that those who are forgiven more, love more and those who are forgiven less, love less.  This just stands on its own merits.  Think of this; if someone kills someone and is forgiven and pardoned and someone else steals a candy bar and is forgiven and pardoned, which one do you think would be more appreciative and love more?  I would think the person who was forgiven and pardoned for killing someone, at least they should be.  Which one is the worst crime?  I am sure that any adult would know this without much consideration on anyone’s part and more than likely say the murder was the worse crime.

Now think of this; which one of these crimes do you think the Lord would consider worse?  Looking at it from the sin angle, when you consider what God’s Word says about sin, the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  I don’t know if you have thought about this before but there are different degrees of sin but the same consequence (death).  If you kill someone, their immediate family is affected.  If the person is married, the spouse and kids, if they have kids, and the extended families are affected along with friends and their business or the place where they were employed and more.  If someone steals a candy bar, the owner of the candy bar is affected and of course in both cases the offender is affected also.  Then think of this, the one who kills someone not only gets a spiritual death but they may pay for their crime by a physical death also compared to the person who stole the candy bar.

In case you didn’t know or understand, when Adam and Eve sinned they didn’t die right away physically but they did die spiritually.  Maybe you think I am being too judgmental about this and you may feel that you have not committed any bad crimes or even sinned that badly and you feel like you love the Lord as much as anyone else, please don’t stop reading.  Read about what Jesus had to say about this subject then you will know why I said what I said.

Please read Luke 7: 36-47, “Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat. And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, ‘This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.’ And Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Simon, I have something to say to you.’ So he said ‘Teacher, say it.’  There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more.  Simon answered and said, ‘I suppose the one whom he forgave more.’ And He said to him, ‘You have rightly judged.’ Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, ‘Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.’ Then He said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’”

I think the message is very clear, I hope this is an encouragement and a blessing.  Have a super day and may the good Lord bless you and yours!!
PS don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord for He is worthy!!
