Destined To Wrath

In the beginning God created man and woman.  Their names were Adam and Eve, they lived in the garden of Eden where God provided everything for them.  This couple had not a care in the world; they had dominion over the animals and every flying creature, plus every insect and everything that crawled on the ground.  They were the first caregivers, taking care of the garden and they could have lived there forever happily, but as time went on they became unsatisfied.

Think of this; they walked with God in the cool of the day, can you imagine walking with God, the creator of the universe, and having a conversation face to face with Him unhindered?  God had given them everything they would ever need, but there was a tree in the middle of the garden that they were forbidden to eat the fruit of, that was the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.  If they did they would surely die and they both knew this, so they had no excuse if they partook of this tree.

Then the evil one came along in the form of a serpent and deceived them.  The woman took some of the fruit of the tree and gave some to Adam who was there with her and he did eat also.  Then both of their eyes were open, and they realized that they were naked and sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves with.  Before this took place, they were perfect beings without a sin nature, until the fall.  After that, sin entered into the world and every person from that time on has been born with a sin nature.  Because we chose to sin we were all destined for wrath and were separated from God with no hope of ever being right with God.  Hell awaited us, for that was our destiny and no one was exempt.  Except for the love, mercy and grace of God that would still be our destiny.  God made a way where there was no way, we were dead in our trespasses and sins.

Read what Paul said to the Ephesians about their condition before they were redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus the Messiah.  Please read Ephesians 2:1-7, “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”

Like I said before, like the Ephesians we were also dead in our trespasses and sins.  Thank the good Lord that Paul explained about God’s glorious grace prior to these verses please read verses 1-14 in the first chapter of Ephesians, “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”

We may have been destined for wrath, but praise be to God, we and He, can do something about it.  The question is this, He is willing, are we?  Please read John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

We have to make a choice to receive the gift of grace that God wants to give us.  Godly sorrow would be a good idea, which leads to repentance which needs not to be repented of.  Repentance means a change of mind, leaving the old life and turning to God and living the new life honoring the Lord!!

Enough said, I hope this Tidbit was a help and a blessing to all who read it.  May the good Lord bless you all with His perfect peace, love and joy and health and happiness!!
