Jesus Does Not Change

Jesus’ character does not change; it says this about Him in Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

We can trust Him to be faithful, even if we are not faithful, where else can we find that kind of loyalty?  If we keep our eyes on Him we will never be led astray.  If we trust Him and have a relationship with Him, He will never leave us or forsake us, He will always be with us.

Moses spoke these words to Joshua and the people with him before they went over the Jordan to possess the land in Deuteronomy 31:7-8, “Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, ‘Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.’”

Now read some of what it says in the New Testament about living holy and obedient lives in Hebrews 13:5-6, “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’”

We can trust the Lord to be with us and meet our needs, when Jesus walked the earth He met the needs of the people.  Jesus healed the sick, He set people free from demon possession, He fed the hungry, He taught them, and He even raised some of their dead back to life.  He basically met the people’s needs, loved them and had compassion on them and not one person that came to Him went away disappointed; He met every need and even some of their wants.  He performed so many miracles and did so many things that we have no idea how many people He ministered to.

Read what John said about this in John 21:24-25, “This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.”

The Lord is still performing these things today through His people, nothing is impossible to Him.  Read what John said about Jesus in John 1:1-4, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.”

In John 1:14-15 it tells us who the Word was; it was Jesus and if He created the Universe, He can do all things.  It says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, ‘This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’”

John 1:10 says this, “He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.”

The Lord hasn’t changed and His promises are true and trustworthy.  Like I said, what He did way back then, He is still doing today.  Our problem is that many of us have become very materialistic, providing for ourselves instead of waiting on the Lord to provide what we need.  I am as guilty as anyone else.  Do you know what this says about us?  It says we don’t trust the Lord to provide for our needs, so this isn’t His problem, it is our problem.

I remember when the Lord always provided for me and my family’s needs; we always had food on the table and a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, a vehicle and a job to help provide our needs.  Where did all these things come from?  They came from the Lord; even the strength and health I had, to do what I had to do, came from the Lord!!

It is easy to say we trust God, but all we have to do is look at what we have, and unless you know that the Lord really did provide it for you, you will know the truth.  When we provide everything for ourselves, we usually end up in debt and we end up with far more than we need.  The Lord provides what we need and sometimes even the desires of our heart.  I can’t speak for you, but I think I will have to change some of my priorities.  I have given you something to think about, have a super day and may the good Lord bless you!!
