Negative Thinking

This kind of thinking is unproductive and should be avoided; I have called this stinking thinking also.  People that project this kind of thinking can be the ‘straw that broke the camel’s back,’ so to speak.  I have heard negative words many times over the years and not only heard them but was the bearer of them also.  It seems like I have been overwhelmed with this way of thinking, especially the last six months or so, and it has affected me adversely.  If you listen to this kind of talk for too long it can have a devastating effect on you also and you can become very negative.  

It is important to focus on the Word of God and believe God’s report instead of man’s report.  One of the things you can count on about the Lord is that He is not negative, He is holy, fair, righteous and just and He tells it like it is and it is always the truth you can count on.  People have a lot of opinions about what they think; but too many times it is just their opinion and if you listen to that kind of talk on a steady basis you will become just as negative as they are.  Many times we have a flawed understanding of what is going on around us, and to us, because of the things we hear and receive as truth.  In the world we live in today many will try to tell you there is no such thing as truth or absolutes, but that is a lie.  Many will say, “What I believe is true for me and what you believe is true for you,” but I am here to tell you that there is absolute truth and the truth is found in the Word of God.  God sent us His love letter and in it you will find the truth.  God also sent the truth in the form of His Son.  

Jesus Christ said this in John 14:1- 6, “‘Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.’ Thomas said to Him, ‘Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”

There are many that may say this is untrue but that doesn’t make it untrue, it is the truth whether they believe it or not.  Just like if you go up on a five story building with shorts on and fall off with nothing to catch you, you will hit the ground or whatever is under you in a matter of seconds.  I heard this story last night and I hope I can tell it correctly; a boy was asked how many legs a dog had if you counted his tail for a leg and the boy replied, five, but that answer was not true, the true answer is four legs and a tail because whatever you may call the tail it is still a tail.  

Jesus spoke about hell in the Word and it is a real scary and painful place that can be avoided or chosen.  Here is another truth, the only way you can avoid it is by believing that Jesus was God’s Son and that through Him is the only way to get to God.  Jesus willingly went to the cross and was nailed there, purposely for the forgiveness of sins and if you believe and trust in Him you can have eternal life.

John 3:13-18, “No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

There was a reason that all of us were created and that was for God’s plan to take place in our lives, which can only take place when we are born-again, born into the family of God.  This day could be a whole new beginning for you.  If you are reading this and haven’t been aware of this before or maybe you just haven’t made a decision to give it all over to the Lord, trusting Him to be your Lord and Savior, my prayer is that you will today.  A good place to start is repenting of your sins, which means to forsake your sins and turn and go in the other direction and ask the Lord to be your Lord and Savior and to forgive you of your sins and help you to live for Him the rest of your life.  Don’t be in a rush, pray through and let the Lord fill you with His perfect peace, love and joy.  When that happens you will walk away rejoicing and praising the Lord and thanking Him for what He has done in your life.  Then go out and share what He has done with others and find a Bible believing church where the pastor preaches the truth and start growing in your newfound faith.
