Dead

There is a program on TV called, “The Walking Dead,” which I have never watched.  This ‘Tidbit’ reminded me of it and of people that are walking but are spiritually dead.  This started way back in Genesis when Adam and Eve sinned.

God spoke this to Adam when He put him into the Garden of Eden to take care of it, in Genesis 2:16-17, “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, ‘Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.’”

Eventually Eve was deceived and sinned and Adam chose to sin.  Because of their disobedience, we are all born with a sin nature and because of their sin we are all born spiritually dead.  Just like leprosy was a death sentence in the days that Jesus walked the earth, sin was also a death sentence for all who were   born through natural birth.  God’s Word says the wages of sin is death and that is what we all deserve, that is the bad news.

But there is good news, the best news you will ever hear.  God loved His creation so much that He didn’t want to leave us in this situation so He provided a way that we could come alive spiritually and escape spiritual death and have eternal life, praise God!!  God’s Word says this in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

That is truly good news!  Did you catch the word “whosoever?”  That covers every person. God has given a free gift called grace to every person that will receive it.  The reason it is a free gift is that it is impossible for us to receive eternal life any other way; we can’t buy it and we can’t earn it and we cannot receive it through our good works, only God can make it possible.

God’s Word tells us this in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

If you are reading this and feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit because of your sins, ask the Lord to forgive you and to be Lord of your life and to reveal Himself to you in a special way.  Don’t be in a hurry; let the Lord fill you with his peace, love and joy and to take you from spiritual death to spiritual life.  Then you can thank and praise Him for saving you and start growing in your new life in Christ.  Paul explained this change from death to life this way in Ephesians 2:1-10, “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

I have given you something to think about, I hope you will.  May God bless you and yours and may you have a super day!!
