Death Sentence

When mankind entered the world there was a death sentence on their life because all of us were born with a sin nature!!  Some people may see this as unfair because they were not responsible for their condition when they were born, which is true but it is a waste of time blaming Adam and Eve and being angry at them.  Regardless of what you may think, the fact is that we are all sinners and we are responsible for our sin.

David said this as part of his repentant prayer in Psalms 51:1-6
“Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.
Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And done this evil in Your sight—
That You may be found just when You speak,
And blameless when You judge.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,
And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.”

David acknowledged the fact that he was born in sin and he took responsibility for it.  Playing the blame game will not remove our responsibility for our sin; confession and repentance can be our only response if we want to be right with God.

God’s Word also says this about the condition of mankind at birth in Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  This says that all of us came into the world in the same way and because we were all separated from God.

Read what it says in Isaiah 59:1-2, “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.”

Reading these things it sounds like there is no hope, but there is hope, praise the Lord!  From the very beginning, God has wanted to fellowship with His creation.  From the time He walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day, He has had a desire to communicate and fellowship with those that He created, so because of His compassion and love He made a way.  Satan’s plan from the beginning was to deceive and destroy all of mankind, when he entered the serpent and deceived Eve and Adam willfully sinned, but God had another plan which is recorded in Jeremiah 29 when He was speaking of His people who were in Babylon because of their sins for a seventy year period.

His plan is in Jeremiah 29:10-13, “For thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”

I believe this is for all of God’s people, read what it says in John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

In the New Testament, Jesus said this in John 10:9-18:
“I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

“Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

Jesus not only said this, but He put His words into practice and allowed Himself to be crucified for the sins of the world.  He has made salvation and also reconciliation with God possible through the shedding of His precious blood on the cross and through His sacrifice we can be made right with God, praise be to Jesus, my Savior and Lord!  If you are reading this and you have a desire to have a personal relationship with the Lord, ask Him to come into your heart and be your Lord and Savior.  Acknowledge the fact that you are a sinner in need of forgiveness and tell Him you are sorry.  Don’t be in a hurry, wait on the Lord to fill you with His peace, love and joy, then you can go on your way rejoicing over what the Lord has done in your life.  Go out and share it with others and never give up in your new found faith and continue to grow in the Lord for the rest of your life.  Seek out a church where the pastor preaches the true word of God and start studying God’s Word and sharing it with others.

Something to think about!  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may you have a great day!!
