I was listening to a song this morning that was called, “There Is Always A Place At The Table,” which reminded me of the marriage supper of the Lamb in Revelations chapter 19.
I also was reminded of the parable that Jesus spoke of in Luke 14:15-24,
“Now when one of those who sat at the
table with Him heard these things, he said to Him,’Blessed is he who shall eat
bread in the kingdom of God!’
Then He said to him, ‘A certain
man gave a great supper and invited many, and sent his servant at supper time
to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’ But
they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have
bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me
excused.’ And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to
test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ Still another said, ‘I have married a
wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ So that servant came and reported these
things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his
servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in
here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.’ And the servant said,
‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’ Then the master
said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to
come in, that my house may be filled. For I say to you that none of those men
who were invited shall taste my supper.’”
In the days of Jesus two invitations were given for a feast, the first
one was to let the guests know it was going to happen and the second was to let
the guests know the feast was prepared and ready. In this parable the lord wanted his house to
be filled, so he made the final preparations so that all could come, but there
was a big problem, some of the guests started making excuses saying they
couldn’t come which insulted the lord of the house in this story.
This was a parable about the Israelites and how the first invitation
was sent out by Moses and the Prophets and the second by Jesus Himself. The problem was that many of the people in
that day refused to accept the second invitation. The sad thing is that history is repeating
itself today. The invitation has been sent
out for many years, not only through prophets, but by the word preached from
pulpits each week, by God’s people proclaiming it, by television, radio, books
and songs in most of the countries of the world but we still have the same
problem today, many people are still making excuses not to come.
Read this encouraging news, it is an invitation in Isaiah 55:1-7:
““Ho!
Everyone who thirsts,
Come
to the waters;
And
you who have no money,
Come,
buy and eat.
Yes,
come, buy wine and milk
Without
money and without price.
Why
do you spend money for what is not bread,
And
your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen
carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And
let your soul delight itself in abundance.
Incline
your ear, and come to Me.
Hear,
and your soul shall live;
And
I will make an everlasting covenant with you—
The
sure mercies of David.
Indeed
I have given him as a witness to the people,
A
leader and commander for the people.
Surely
you shall call a nation you do not know,
And
nations who do not know you shall run to you,
Because
of the Lord your God,
And
the Holy One of Israel;
For
He has glorified you.”
Seek
the Lord while He may be found,
Call
upon Him while He is near.
Let
the wicked forsake his way,
And
the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let
him return to the Lord,
And
He will have mercy on him;
And
to our God,
For
He will abundantly pardon.”
This is for all those who don’t know the Lord or are far away from the
Lord at the present time, the Lord will not only receive you if you are sincere
but you will also be blessed. Seek the
Lord while He may be found, don’t wait any longer, repent and receive Him as
your Lord and Savior and ask Him to be the Lord of your life. Don’t put it off another moment, today is the
day of salvation, you may never get another chance.
Something to think about, I hope you will make the choice today to
humble yourself before the Lord and ask Him to come into your heart and life
and to forgive you of your sins and cleanse you from all un-righteousness. Have a great day and may the good Lord bless
you and yours!!
