Fairytale, Fiction or Real

When we were kids we read many fairytales or someone read them to us.  Our intellect at the time made these stories sound so real that we might even have thought that some of them were true.  The way some of these stories were written and told to us made them sound like the people really existed at the time.

Think about Santa Claus, how long did you believe that there really was a Santa Claus?  And what about fiction stories, some seem like they are so real the people, situations and circumstances make them sound like they are true stories, so true that it is easy to be fooled.  We can be fooled and deceived by stories; think of Robin Hood, he was most people’s hero going around with his merry band of men robbing from the rich and giving to the poor.  It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized Robin Hood and his merry men were nothing but killers, thieves, liars and deceivers.  Just think of the TV flicks and the movies you have seen over the years, they make them seem so real that some people think some of the people that get killed in the movie really die.

Our minds can be manipulated by what we see and hear which many people know and are counting on happening.  It seems like we live in a world of manipulation, lies and deceit.  If you think seriously about this, maybe that is why so many people are deceived into thinking that the Word of God is a fairytale along with everything in it.  Even those in the church may fall into this deception.  Think about yourself; is the Lord and His Word real to you or just a fairytale that you are just hoping is true?

This could be the problem with some in the church, think about the Corinthian church for a moment, Paul says this in 1 Corinthians 1:4-9, “I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you, so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”  This church was established in Christ having all the gifts working.  They were blessed to overflowing with the gifts of the Spirit working regularly.  Signs and wonders were regular events making the Word of God so real to them.

Many people in the church today have never seen a miracle or never experienced one in their own lives so they can only go by what they hear from others.  They may never have experienced the gifts working in their lives or in the lives of others they associate with.  Some teach that some of the gifts aren’t for today and some just seem to ignore them altogether.  I believe that the Word of God is true and all the gifts are for today and so are miracles.  I believe that the Word is and was inspired by God and is profitable for doctrine, for reprove, for correction and for instruction in righteousness.  I also believe it is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

If you are struggling with believing that the Lord and His Word are true we have a guarantee, a promise, from the Lord that says if you seek me with all your heart you will find me.  If you are one of these skeptics and you believe this is all a fairytale, do me a big favor start pressing in and seeking the Lord and if you are sincere you will find Him.  And if you are in the church and haven’t flowed in the gifts or experienced any miracles in your life get alone with God and seek Him for the gifts so that you can honor Him in and through them.  Have a super great day and may the Lord bless you and yours!!
