God’s Leading

What motivates you and where are you going on your journey?

Are you settling for second best or are you striving to be the best that you can be?

Sometimes to be what God wants us to be, will take us out of our comfort zone, it may take us to where we don’t want to go. But where God leads is the best place for us to be.

I was not raised in a Christian home and most of my choices were not good ones. This gives me no excuse for the way I lived and the choices I made. There are many people that weren’t raised as Christians and they made far better choices than I did and ended up fairly successful.

The problem here, as I see it, is the lack of the Lord in their lives.  To be all you can be, takes a relationship with the Lord.  Obtaining the American dream is not real success, what you are doing is settling for second best.  If you want to be the best that you can be, you will have to be born again.  The Word says, "Unless the Lord builds the house ye labor in vain that build it." So what does that mean? Unless the Lord is in the project, or whatever you are trying to accomplish, it will never be the best it can be and the same thing applies to you, you will never be the best you can be unless the Holy Spirit dwells in you and you are born-again.

Now I want to talk to all the Christians that read this lesson.  If the Lord called you to leave your country, your relatives and your home, would you go? There were many called by Jesus to follow Him and they left everything they owned even their livelihood and their family and their city to follow Jesus.

Some were fishermen – but think of this, were they the best they could be? No! Remember when they were called by Jesus, how they had fished all-night and caught nothing? Then Jesus came on the scene and told them to cast their nets out on the other side of the boat. They caught so many fish they had to have help from some of the other fishermen to get their fish into the boat because their nets were starting to break. Jesus told them to do that two different times in the gospels. With Jesus’ help they were the best that they could be. But Jesus’ plan wasn’t to make them the best fishermen they could be, no, His plan was to make them the best soul winners that they could be, Jesus said He would make them fishers of men. All but one ended up doing just that to the best of their ability, with the help of Jesus. Check it out in Luke chapter 5: verses 4–11 and also John chapter 21: verses 1–14.

But what if they refused to follow Jesus when He called them, sure they would have continued fishing but they never would have discovered their potential and they never would have been the best that they could be. Could they have been believers at some point?  Sure but they would have missed out on God’s perfect plan for their lives.

Sometimes God’s perfect plan may only come once and you don’t want to miss it. Sometimes we miss out on God’s greatest blessings because we refuse to be obedient when He speaks to us. The disciples were obedient and look how they were blessed. All of them but one, became the best that they could be. Praise God! Judas would have been the best that he could have been also but he chose a different path, that choice cost him everything.

Let me give you one more example in the Old Testament, this is about Abram (Abraham). In Genesis chapter 12:1–3 it says, "Now the Lord said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country and from thy kindred and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing. And I will bless them that bless thee and curse them that curseth thee, and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed."

In verse 4 it says, "So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken unto him, and Lot went with him and Abram was seventy-and five years old when he departed out of Ha-ran." Because of Abram’s obedience he was blessed mightily by the Lord. Everything the Lord said He would do for Abram He did. And even up to our day the Lord is still blessing the Israelites and they are the apple of His eye. Without the Lord’s help they wouldn’t exist today. Praise God for His mercy and grace.
Because of the obedience and choices these men made they became the best that they could be.

So if the Lord is calling you to do something that makes you get out of your comfort zone, step out in faith and be obedient and you will never be sorry. The Lord will accomplish things that you could never have believed, and He will put you in the right place and you will be the best that you can be. So, "lean not onto your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will guide you path." Praise the Lord and have a great day and may God bless you!
