Seek Wisdom and Live

It seems like the fear of the Lord is becoming less relevant in people’s lives as time goes on.  I think it may be happening because of false teachings and a lack of balance in our lives because of what we listen to.  Think of this, it seems we had the fire and brimstone preachers who seemed to preach ‘turn or burn’, then we started to hear that they were wrong and then we heard all about love and grace and mercy and forgiveness.  In my way of looking at this subject it is as though we ‘threw the baby out with the bath water’, so to speak.  I feel as though we need both, the ‘turn or burn’ with an abundance of grace thrown in and not to eliminate either.  We seemed to have lost the balance in a lot of our preaching.

I have heard of a teaching called hyper grace, which to my way of thinking has truly been a hindrance in believer’s lives and helped lead to the less fear of God cause.  This teaches that when we are born-again, we are forgiven of all our sins; past, present and future, which is not biblical.  Now we’re getting into all grace and no more responsibility on our part, no more conviction, no more repentance, no more confession, it is all done with and it is all over but the shouting, so to speak.  If this was true, which it is not, it seems like to the people that buy into this teaching that they would lose all fear of God and do whatever they wanted to.  Kind of sounds like a license to sin, although I never heard it taught that way!!

If we as believers want to be blessed with wisdom so we will know the truth, we will need the fear of the Lord.  I am not talking about being scared to death, but a kind of fear that teaches us to respect the Lord and helps us to try harder to keep his commandments and to walk humbly before our maker, our Lord and Savior!!

Please read Proverbs 2:1-15, “My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path. When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things, from those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness; who rejoice in doing evil, and delight in the perversity of the wicked; whose ways are crooked, and who are devious in their paths.”

Wisdom is something every believer needs to possess, it is so imperative
that we all seek it and find it.  Now please read Proverbs 3:13-26, “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her. The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding He established the heavens; by His knowledge the depths were broken up, and clouds drop down the dew. My son, let them not depart from your eyes—keep sound wisdom and discretion; so they will be life to your soul and grace to your neck. Then you will walk safely in your way, and your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.”

If you want wisdom, ask the Lord for it, please read James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

The Lord gives it to those who seek Him and those who fear Him!!  In the book of Proverbs it says this in chapter 9 verse 10, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Enough said, I pray this has been an encouragement, a help and a blessing to you, and that you have a super, super day.  And may the good Lord bless you and yours with His perfect peace, love and joy and health and happiness!!  And don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord for he is worthy!!
