The Word

Please read Psalms 119:97-112, “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Your word. I have not departed from Your judgments, for You Yourself have taught me. How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn and confirmed that I will keep Your righteous judgments. I am afflicted very much; revive me, O Lord, according to Your word. Accept, I pray, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord, and teach me Your judgments. My life is continually in my hand, yet I do not forget Your law.
The wicked have laid a snare for me, yet I have not strayed from Your precepts. Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, for they are the rejoicing of my heart. I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes forever, to the very end.”

God’s Word is like a light that illuminates the heart, soul, mind and being; it sort of lights up the whole body.  How many times have you needed to hear something because you needed wisdom, knowledge and discernment, and the Lord showed it to you in his Word!  You may be listening to a song or hearing a preacher, teacher or evangelist speak and right then you hear just what you needed to hear.  The Word of God is so remarkable that if we study it and put it into practice it will totally change our way of thinking.  What just came to mind is that God’s Word is like a mind alternative drug except it is not a drug at all it is super natural and if you hide it in your heart it will change your whole perspective.

Please read Psalms 119:11-16, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. With my lips I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.”

When we hide God’s Word in our hearts, we have an advantage when temptation comes, we can recall certain things that we need to remember at the time, and that will help us to resist the temptation whatever it is.  That is why it is so important to memorize scripture and hide it in our hearts.

Remember what the rest of that scripture says, that I might not sin against thee.  It is not a guarantee, but it is certainly a guard against sinning.  Think of this, sometimes when you get discouraged and your walk with the Lord seems to be drying up and you feel like you are in a desert place and you don’t seem to be able to get in contact with God and you are so discouraged, you may rationalize and think that the Lord has left you, remembering this would be so encouraging.

Please read Hebrews 13:5-6, “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’”

If anyone is in that situation, wouldn’t that word be encouraging to whoever heard it.  That is why it is so important to know the Word of God and to hide it your heart and put it into practice.  Sometimes people seem to try to discourage other believers telling them that knowledge puffs up, but love builds up, it can puff you up, but many take these scriptures out of content.  God’s Word commands us to study to show thyself approved, a workman who need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth and we sure need truth today, there are so many lies being thrown around as truth today.  Let’s get in the Word, hide it in our hearts and live by those truths, praise the Lord.

There is just so much I could put down here about God’s Word, but I think I got my point across.  I hope this has been a help and encouragement and may the good Lord bless you and yours and may you have a super day!!
