Now think of this, unless the Lord build the house we labor
in vain that build it. In my way of
thinking, it takes three to make a good marriage. The couple and the Lord make three. On the other hand, this is all it would take
for David to defeat the giant Philistine, David and the Lord, and David had the
faith to believe that was true; he wasn’t going in his strength but with the
power of the Lord. David said to the giant
you are coming to me with a sword, a spear and a javelin, but I am coming to
you in the name of Adonai-Tzva’ot, God of the armies of Israel, whom you have
defiled. This very day Adonai will
deliver you into my hand and I will strike you down and take your head off and
I will give the carcasses of the Philistine camp to the birds of the sky and
the wild beasts of the earth, and that is what happened. I believe that David knew God better than most
and he had the faith that God would help him to be victorious over the giant
and He did.
But what about David’s sins? Like I said David was not a perfect man. He counted all the fighting men, he committed
adultery and he was a murderer which were all grievous sins against God and he
knew better so he was in trouble, it was one thing to sin unknowingly but to
sin willingly was a little different matter, but even then God knowing all
things still said David was a man after His own heart.
What was it about David that moved the hand and heart of
God? I believe God knew David’s heart,
and what does God seek from His people; I believe that God seeks the humble and
contrite heart, that He will not despise. He also seeks faith and a devoted committed
heart. I want to throw this in here,
don’t ever believe anyone that says that if you sin you do not have to repent
over it, saying that you have been forgiven for every sin when you were born
again. Please don’t be deceived, I do
not believe that the word of God teaches that, so be very careful who you
listen to and who you believe, always seek a matter out!!
Now let’s get back to David, the man after God’s own heart. David trusted God to keep His word, he also
was a humble man for a King and his true heart’s desire was to glorify the King
of kings and the Lord of lords. Another
thing I want say here is that David knew what godly sorrow was and what the
word repent meant, and he demonstrated it even though it took a while in
Bathsheba’s case. David’s commitment to
the Lord was a committed and steadfast relationship. David’s relationship was not a wishy washy one
with the Lord. If you have read through
the Psalms you already know how steadfast and committed David was and how
important it was for him to thank and praise the Lord!!
Question; how’s your walk with the Lord? I know it is easy to judge others when our
sins are not exposed but until we walk in someone else’s shoes for a while, we
need to be very careful not to be the persons judge and jury. We should leave that to the Lord and we should
love the person or persons.
My prayer is that you to will have a steadfast relationship
with the Lord also and love Him with all your heart, soul, strength and mind
and examine yourself and keep from judging others because you may find yourself
being an intolerant judge and jury, be careful. Enough said, may the good Lord bless you and
yours with His perfect peace, love and joy and health and happiness.
