Waiting

Did you ever hear someone say, ‘I will get right with the Lord when I get old or just before I die?’  Anyone who is truly thinking knows that there is a good chance that won’t happen because there are too many variables that can take place over time.  The person could be killed instantly and not have time to make that decision.  Or the person may harden their heart to the point where there is no way back.

I don’t believe that anyone can come to Jesus unless the Father draws them.  And what about the conviction of the Holy Spirit?  If the Father draws and the conviction is there and you keep rejecting Him, how many chances do you think you will get?

The Word of God says this in 2 Corinthians 6:2, “For He says: ‘In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.’ Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

Now read Hebrews 3:15, “while it is said: ‘Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.’”

This is a very serious decision and should never be taken lightly or put off if the opportunity comes.  I thought of this yesterday while my wife and I were talking together.  I thought about the two thieves on the cross with Jesus and one of them jeering at Jesus.

Now read what they said in Luke 23:38-43, “And an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, ‘If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.’ But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, ‘Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.’ Then he said to Jesus, ‘Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.’”

Both men had an opportunity to get right with Jesus at their death but only one took the opportunity; learn from their lesson.  Don’t put off getting right with the Lord until you are old because you may harden your heart so much over the years that when the moment comes you may not want anything to do with the Lord which may have happened to the thief that jeered at Jesus!!  Repent and turn from your sin and ask the Lord to forgive you of your sins and to be your Lord and Savior while you can!!
Enough said may you have a super day.  And may the good Lord bless you and yours!!
