The Lord Never Changes

Read Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

We live in a very fast paced world and even though things change rapidly the Lord doesn’t and we can be thankful that He doesn’t.  If he did, we wouldn’t be able to trust Him.  The Lord loves us unconditionally and that doesn’t change regardless of what we do but we can grieve Him and make him sad by our behavior.

There are times when He relents from bringing judgement, like in the case of Nineveh, read Jonah 3:4-10, “And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day’s walk. Then he cried out and said, ‘Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!’ So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish? Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.”

He may relent but he never lies, please read Numbers 23:19, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

The Lord is very trust worthy and we can put our trust in Him.  Yesterday I was telling someone that the Lord said that He would never leave us or forsake us because she seemed to have a struggle with the Spirit leaving her and then returning, and it frightened her.  I tried to explain that the Lord doesn’t leave us but if we sin, that sin separates us from the Lord.  I said that the Lord is always there, but we put an obstacle in the way when we sin.  When we truly repent    and turn away from the sin and confess it and ask the Lord to forgive us, He does, and the obstacle is removed, praise the Lord and we are back in right standing with Him.  These may not be the exact words that I used but they basically meant the same.  In other words, the Lord doesn’t move, we are the ones that move.

Please read 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

One of the things that we know is that the Lord seeks the humble and contrite heart, that He will not despise because He draws to the humble and resists the proud!!  And we as believers can also stand on His promises by faith.  God’s Word says that the righteous shall live by faith.

Now think of the person I said I talked with, that person knew what I was saying but needed a reminder, and not only that, this person needed faith to believe what I was saying was true.  Many people say things, but do they truly believe what they are saying?  Think of this, many times people pray, and they don’t seem to get the answers they were looking for and if they are not careful it will start eroding their faith.  Sometimes they can feel like the Lord has abandoned them and their confidence is shaken.  But the Lord knows what is best for us and He may be saying yes, no or wait, but the people doing the praying may be thinking, ‘where is the Lord He is not answering my prayers anymore,’ and start thinking they have crossed some imaginary line or something and the Lord is angry with them because He seems so far away.  But I want to emphasize the fact that the Lord doesn’t lie, and He said that He would never leave us or forsake us and that should settle it in your mind!!

Enough said, I hope this has been an encouragement and help to all who read it.  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may you all have a super day!! And don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord, for He is worthy!!
