It was a real shame that even though Jesus was the light of
the world many didn’t receive His testimony and those who didn’t believe on Him
walked in darkness as many still do today leaning on their own understanding. What does the Word say about our own
understanding in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust
in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all
your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
Then it goes on and says this in verses 7 and 8, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the
Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to
your bones.”
Think about this: the dark can’t overcome the light, but the
light can overcome the darkness, and if you walk in darkness you can stumble
and fall. The light illuminates your path
so that you can see the pitfalls that are ahead of you. Spiritually speaking I think it means walking
with transparency, not anything hidden or covered up. It is like this, what you see is what you get,
no more or no less. It’s like striving
for perfection but not being there yet and not being afraid to show your
imperfections. It is also like being a
living witness and a walking testimony of the Lord’s grace in your life!! When spiritual light shines on us it shows the
imperfections in others as well as in ourselves. We need to be a good witness by not forming
judgements but showing love and mercy and grace and acceptance towards others
and not condemnation.
I think the person I would like to be like in God’s Word,
outside of Jesus of course, is Barnabas which means (Son of Encouragement) which
the early Christians called him. That is
what I want to be with no lies or falsehood but speaking the truth the best
that I can and to bring glory to the Lord in all things. I want to be transparent comparing myself to
the Lord and not anyone else. I know I will
always fall short, but I will strive to accomplish perfection like Paul says
that we need to do.
Reminder, let’s not hide the light that is within us, please
read Matthew 5:14-15, “You are the light
of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light
a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all
who are in the house.”
We are all living testimonies and witnesses and people are
watching our lives and shaping opinions about us, so let them see our good
works so that they may bring glory to the Lord because they see Jesus’ life lived
out within us. My prayer is that these
Tidbits might be a blessing to all who read them. May the good Lord bless you and yours and may
you all have a super day!! PS don’t
forget to thank and praise the Lord for that is a good thing, for God inhabits
the praises of His people and He is worthy!!
