Humble Yourself

This is a subject you don’t hear much about in the communities (church) today.  Many sermons are all about us and how we can be blessed and be happy.  Inspirational speakers are very popular today because they tickle people’s ears telling them what they want to hear and not what they need to hear.  Many people will not put up with sound doctrine today but only what their itching ears want to hear, and some will put up with doctrines of demons.  Some pastors and teachers talk like we should be rich and wear diamond rings, driving BMW’s or other new fancy vehicles when the truth is that Jesus said He didn’t have a place to lay His head.  Some people teach that Christian’s should have houses that would be far beyond their means, while some of these pastors are living in million-dollar houses.  Many of them, instead of feeding the sheep, they are fleecing the sheep.  What about these words, deny yourself take up your cross and follow me, and what about humbling yourself before the Lord?

Read James 4:6-10, “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

Repentance and confession of sin are also a part of humbling yourself before the Lord.  Godly sorrow leads to repentance unto salvation that need not to be repented of.  Lamenting, mourning, and weeping may result in humbling you as a child of God.

Read what Jesus said about children in Matthew 18:1-3, “At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, ‘Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.’”

Why do we have to become like little children, as Jesus said?  Maybe because little children are innocent, they haven’t been tainted or corrupted by the world system.  They trust their father to do what he says he will do.  If he put them on a high wall and told them to jump and he would catch them, they probably would jump.  Their faith has not been tainted by the world’s indoctrination.  If you tell them that Jesus loves them and explain why, they would more than likely believe it.  If they start out in a healthy positive environment, they will be more positive when they are young.  They are usually humble until they learn to be proud and arrogant as they get older if they grow up in the wrong environment.

Some people think to be humble means to be a door mat for everyone to wipe their shoes on and that is wrong.  A humble person is a strong person who loves others but is not a wimpy person.  They may be very good at certain things and have great talent, but they do not brag about them. Being humble is the kind of people all believers should be like.  Jesus was a great example of this, but he also demonstrated a righteous anger at times.  Let Him be the example we follow.

Enough said, I think you got the message.  May you and yours have a super day and may the good Lord bless you all!!
