These are some of the good works that we are saved to do.
Read Matthew 25:32-40, “All the nations
will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a
shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His
right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His
right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for
you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I
was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was
naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you
came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see
You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a
stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick,
or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them,
‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these
My brethren, you did it to Me.’”
I have heard it said that the only good works that we can do
after we have been born-again is to tell someone about the Lord, and I fully
agree that sharing the Lord with someone is very important, but it is far from
the only good works that we need to be doing. Take Jesus as our example; He went about
teaching and healing and casting out demons and even raising the dead and
washing His disciple’s feet and He also feed thousands of people.
Now read James 2:14-17, “What
does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have
works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of
daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and
filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body,
what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is
dead.”
Now read Matthew 5:16, “Let
your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify
your Father in heaven.”
Read Isaiah 58:10, “If
you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your
light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday.”
All of these verses refer to good works and there are many
more I could put down here. Like the Word
says let your light so shine before men that they might see your good works and
glorify your Father in heaven!! I pray
that this will be a blessing and an encouragement and that the good Lord will
bless you and yours with His perfect peace, love and joy and health and happiness.
May you all have a super, super day!! Don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord, for
He is worthy!!
