Lion and Lamb

How could a Lamb become a lion?  In the natural this could not happen but in the super-natural anything is possible.  Jesus came to be the sacrificial Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.  This is a theme throughout the Old and New Testaments.  Way back in Genesis 22:7-13 it speaks of the Lamb when Isaac was going with His father Abraham to be sacrificed.

Read what it says, “And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.”

All through the Old Testament and the New Testament it talks about sacrifices for sin until Jesus was crucified for the sins of the world.  Think about the Israelites in Egypt, what happened with the last plague.

Read Exodus 12:2-14, “This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: and if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire. And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the Lord's passover. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.”

This is symbolic of what Jesus would do years later by the shedding of His blood as the Lamb of God!!  Even John the Baptist proclaimed this in John 1:29, “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

It also talks about this in John’s Revelation in 5:11-14, “And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.”

And also in 6:1, “And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.”

Jesus came as a meek and lowly servant, as the Lamb of God, but the next time He comes He will be like a Lion with authority and power to overthrow His enemies.  Read what it says in Revelations chapter 5 about the Lion and the Lamb which was Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son.  At the cross He overthrew every evil power and authority, including death, Hell and the grave.  Jesus said He would rise again and He did just what He said He would do.  The grave had no victory and the grave had no sting and when He returns His enemies will have no victory either.  The good news is that Jesus is not willing that any be lost but that all come to repentance.

Read what John 3:16-17 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

Read 2 Corinthians 7:9-11, what Paul wrote to the Church in Corinth, I believe this can be used for the nonbeliever also.  If you are tired of your sins, and the Bible says we were all born in sin, and want to repent, which means to turn away from your sins and to turn to God, the offer is for you.  Ask Him to forgive you and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness.  If you are truly sincere I believe that He will.

This is something to think about, but I hope you will do more than that, my prayer is that you will act on it.  Then share it with others and find a church and start growing!!  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may you all have a blessed day!!
