Is Your Mind Veiled

Think of this, why are so many people blinded to the truth?  Why do I say that?  Just look around at what people are teaching these days, one example is that there are no absolutes or truth.  Read what Pilate said to Jesus, having the ultimate truth right in front of him, in John 18:35-38, “Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done? Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. Pilate saith unto Him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saeth unto them, I find in Him no fault at all.”

In this situation I am talking about a spiritual blindness, a blindness that can keep people from knowing the truth that could set them free.  I can give you a couple of absolute truths; if you jump off the tallest building or one not so tall without any support or anything that will help you, you will go down and if you put your bare hand on a hot stove with nothing on it you will be burned.  This notion about truth is not a new idea; Pilate said, “what is truth,” many, many years ago.  When a person hears the truth and hardens their heart to it, the god of this world blinds their minds to the truth.

Why do I say this?  Read 2 Corinthians 4:1-6 Paul speaking, “Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

So we know that the evil one blinds the minds of those that resist the truth of God’s Word, but God is abundant in mercy and is ready to set those free that really seek the truth.  I believe we have a real problem in our land and it is called a famine of the Word.  It is not that we don’t have the Word, the truth, we have all kinds of translated Bibles and other resources, but people are looking for the answers to their problems and questions everywhere but in the Word of God.

In Amos’ day they had the same problem, God sent the people called prophets to speak His Word but many wouldn’t listen to them.  Read Amos 8:11-12, “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.”

When Pilate heard Jesus do you think he didn’t recognize the truth?  I think he did, but he didn’t choose to heed it and walked away and the same thing happens today, many people hear the truth but refuse to obey it.  Not everyone’s mind is blinded to the truth some just refuse to put it into practice.    Remember someday we will all have to stand before the judgement seat of Christ and give an account of what we did in this life, whether it be good or bad, and at that time there will be no excuses.

Read 2 Corinthians 5:10, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

The good news is that we can be reconciled to God!!  Read what Paul said about this in 2 Corinthians 5:11-21, “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart. For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause. For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: and that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

This is super great news, though we were separated from God because of our sins we can be reconciled to Him because of what Jesus did for us because He loved us, praise the Lord!!  Jesus gave His life a ransom for the sins of mankind.  So, humble yourself before the Lord, resist the devil and He will flee from you.  Please don’t shut your mind to the truth, but taste and see that the Lord is good.  Get into God’s Word and let the Word get into you and let it change your life as you put it into practice.  I have given you something to think about, I hope you will.  May you have a super day and may the good Lord bless you and yours!!
