A Time of Need

When your world starts rocking that’s the time to start knocking!!  Many of us are going through struggles, trials, tribulations and some of us are having a hard time coping with the things we are facing.  We know that this is going to happen because Jesus told us so, but I wonder how many of these trials and struggles we bring on ourselves by the choices we make.  Some of us may be trying to hit the lottery and are hooked on buying lottery tickets or get rich schemes, thinking that is the answer.  Some of us are spending far beyond our means and we can’t see any way of getting out of our debt.  Some of us may resemble hoarders with all the stuff we have accumulated over the years.  Some of us think we have to be into every activity there is and also those that our kids are in and we run ourselves into the ground and the activities we are trying to keep up with just seem to become overwhelming.

Then there are many things that we have no control over, like sicknesses and diseases or our vehicles breaking down or appliances that need fixing or so many other things that happen to us that we don’t expect.  The things that we can fix we need to fix, but what about the things we can’t fix, what should we do and who should we go to then?  Some of us try to fix everything ourselves and we continue to fail over and over again, not willing to realize that there are some things that we cannot fix.  Like I said earlier we need to start knocking, which means we need to start calling on the good Lord to help us and believe that He will.

Jesus said this in Matthew 7:7-12, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”

It also says this in James 4 in the end of verse 2, “Yet we have not because ye ask not.”  I’m afraid that many of us don’t take things to God first because we don’t think He cares about our situations because if He did we wouldn’t be in the situation in the first place and that is not true.

God’s Word says this in 1 Peter 5:6-11, “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

Philippians 4:6-7 also says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”

Now you have the answer to all the things you need and that is asking, seeking, and knocking, and don’t give up, God’s Word says this in Hebrews 4:15-16, “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”  I know this relates to sin in this content but I think we need to draw to the throne of grace boldly regardless of what we are asking for, with reverence, knowing that we are talking to the Creator of the universe because He loves and cares for us.

Something to think about!  May you have a super day and may the good Lord bless you and yours with His perfect peace, love, and joy!!

PS read Luke 18:1-7, “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’”

Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?”

So when your world is rocking, just keep knocking and don’t give up and don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord for He is worthy!!
